So my brother comes home for the summer and all of a sudden he's like "omg l337, wireless connections to tap into!!1" I think "that son of a bitch, always getting the wireless connections!" But then I remember I have my own USB wireless adapter, so now I've got stolen DSL too! Hurray! 4x faster Internet for free = good deal in my book.

Those people deserve to be leeched because they're so inept at protecting their wireless signal.

Gooood for you.

Is this stolen DSL still from your pastor next door? I thought they blocked you a while ago. <img src=" SRC="images/smiles/icon_smile.gif">

You make me sound so evil. :P And it's another neighbor this time, don't even know who since the ID is labeled "default."

I was thinking about posting the same type of message a wek ago at my grandparents house. Fliped open my new laptop with embedded wireless, activated the radar style signal intensity detector and to my surprise, right accross the street was an unsecured router with broadband. I was on the Internet most of the time playing this beta of a new mmon, Rose (Rush On Seven Episode) Online www.roseon.com . But there were flaws, such the lag with download speeds. Finnally I lost the connection when the router wouldn't properly assign my computer an IP address.

You know, I've actually got nothing to say

A lot of people with wirelss don't know how to configure their routers to not broadcast to list collecting cards. Then again, there is a manual that comes with the router. So, I suppose it's their own fault.

So, Hugh, if you feel like exploiting some unchecked buffers you wont get the blame ... until way later depending on what you do.

Hmm that is pretty sneaky and very clever. Something new that I have learn't <img src=" SRC="images/smiles/icon_wink.gif"> I had better warn friends who use this stuff.

Perhaps downloading illegal downloads will get you punished.

Well, it's a good thing that when I'd gotten the wireless router we have, I made sure to make it secure. No encrition, but, if you don't know the SID and pass, well, your out of luck :P. I know I could do more, but I'm too lazy right now.

My brother uses NetStumbler, I just use the WLAN monitor that came with my adapter. So nifty. And I did get caught last time (after like 8 months (and the guy was a computer tech!)), but he didn't know that it was me who did it... they never suspect the pale kid who lives right next door... probably because he never leaves his house.

There seems to be a lot of people with unprotected wireless connections. My friend came over today with his new laptop and we were using my neighbors internet for free.

I disabled wireless networking on ours and unscrewed the antenna, just in case.

The same is with me... I suggest strongly against doing it.

It is ok for the occasional web browsing, but if he has a limit and finds out, your in BIG s**t, I mean Big s**t... Talking fines of ?40,000 or so here.

So there is law against it specifically? I wasn't aware of any in the U.S.

There's no download limits here (here being my general vicinity), so no worries about that. The last time I was caught I didn't get fined or anything either, which would lead me to believe that I couldn't get fined, but eh, who knows.
