Much as I like 'Saint Bob' he might be setting himself up for a fall. Its what I like to call Michael Moore syndrome; you become so actively involved in a campaign that you become its poster boy, and enevitably something the people groan at when they see. This is the fault of the media entirely, they prefer to focus on indivuals rather than do real journalism on a broader subject, so it becomes "Bob Geldoff is doing this or that in africa" instead of what is actually going on.

Granted, the BBC have given an excellent level of coverage concerning poverty in Africa, but then they aren't a commercial channel, like all the other ones. It gives them the freedom to put things that heaven forbid people might learn from, without fear of losing rating points, and therefore money.

they got BBC on satilite but my uncle never watches tv so sold his tv and got rid of his digital reception.

Anybody watch the Edinburgh Live 8 event this evening? I flicked onto it every now and then, and found it to be stronger than the Live 8 events around the world on Saturday. Perhaps it was because it was in an enclosed stadium as opposed to open parks, but the atmosphere looked better, and the number of people there seemed higher (despite being a lot lower). Unfortunately coverage of it on TV could have been a bit better - there were a few cuts back to the presenter doing interviews and whathaveyou at inappropriate moments (right in the middle of Bob Geldof, Bono and Midge Ure's speeches?!), and really, does anybody care to hear the same bloody standard explanation as to how the bands/singers got involved?
