Well its a little better than my current card I guess, but probably not worth upgrading to (I have a ti4200). Is the SE version of the card a better or worse model than the normal ti4800? I'll keep it on watched, and might pick it up if its going REAL cheap. Thanks for the heads up anyway <img src=" SRC="images/smiles/icon_smile.gif">

SE is worse i'm afraid <img src=" SRC="images/smiles/sad.gif"> if you have the ti4200 this card is not much of an upgrade, the only major difference is that it supports AGP8X whereas your card only supports 4X (i think). Apart from that, i think your card actually has faster RAM so you'd probably be wasting your money if you bought this one. This card would be a perfect cheap upgrade for anyone with an MX card as it is way better than any of the MX range.

Ti4200 supports 8x.

I have a 5200mx. How much are you selling for? By the way I'm in the U.S. so hopefully shipping costs aren't a whole lot.

Spartan:
Shipping to the U.S. from the U.K. is actually alot more expensive than you would think, I'm not certain on the details but I'm pretty sure the import tax is not really worth it for something that is worth somewhere around $60. If you look on eBay you will be able to find a card in america that is way better than this and you will end up paying less for it probably. Plus... I dont know if the Ti4800 is any better than a 5200MX, I know MX cards have slower clock speeds and RAM than a normal card, but the 5200 is the next generation GPU so for all I know it could be way better.

Rival:
um, lets put it this way, the higher the number the better the card, so your fx5200 is defiantely better than the Ti4800.

That's not true. Just because the FX has a newer chipset doesn't make it a better card.

To put it in perspective: a 4800 would run something like HL2 better, but it can't run BF2 period, since it's missing registers that exist in the FX chipset. However, in HL2, the 4800 wouldn't render all the effects that the 5200 would have.

I wouldn't suggest buying a GF4 is you have an FX card (or buying an FX card if you have a GF4), just wait a little longer and get a newer card, since there'd be really no advantage at this point for either cards regarding the games that are coming out.

Bit of a grey area for me, I never really knew the exact differences between the Geforce 4 and Geforce FX. I definately wouldnt suggest buying one if you are into games, but its a good card for mapping and such.
