I just think it's unfair for us retail owners (because yes, I own the retail pack, but feel even more sorry for those with bronze like my brother) to get punished with HL2DM which valve don't seem to give a rat's a$$ anyway while you ppl get a nice new shiny mod in the near future which will most likely guarantee that HL2DM will get even more niglected than it already is. If someone bothered themselves to make a decent mod out of HL2DM, so that we can all be happy, I wouldn't care at all about HL1DM but Valve really don't seem to give any importance to the poorer people who got retail (don't imagine i've bought the retail pack because I was a cheapskate).

I had a go just now. It looks nice, framerates arent great tho.
I'm getting tired of these minor updates theyre releasing every week. Now everyone looks like midgets, the original player models werent so bad they needed to be changed/

That's funny, I feel it sucks even harder than the original. I dunno, if it weren't for the title I would have never figured out that's cs_assault. It feels much tighter. Assault was an open map and that's what made it "special".

I bought retail because my internet was crap, and I couldn't exactly download the whole game on crap net, woulda taken weeks! I think there should be an option for retail owners like me to upgrade to Silver or whatever. I think its disgusting what Valve are doing with the whole situation, and a massive lack of information. If I'm not mistaken they got sued because they didn't state clearly enough on the packaging that you needed an internet connection to be able to play the game.
But heres a question to UK people- how much did you pay for the silver package?

Is there a way to purchase only the new updates separately? Otherwise steam just became a whole lot less useful than the crap it already is...

Did anyone notice the hollow box in the void with a boot in it? I shot it and it dissapeared...Perhaps it unlocks a secret?

As for the Package deal.. If you got retail your already a Gold or above member, and have full access to all Valve games and mods.

Or perhaps it doesn't have any gib models.

The 9800 pro is still a good card. I don't think it's obsolet yet, because i can play almost any game at med-high quality so well, and that's enough for me. But when you play on-line, the more people, the more laggy it comes, don't know exactly why, but i assume that the server's computer has much to do with it as the client computer do. I mean cpu power.

As for the map itself, it definitely took some getting used to. Something about the 3D sky box and visible but unaccessible areas made me keep trying to run away from the wearhouse after spawning CT side. I kept heading into dead end alley's because I felt like that's how the map flowed. After a couple of rounds I got used to it though.
I liked the new railroad overpass thing.
I didn't mind the shadow overlays.
The detail makes it harder for me to scan the insides as an assaulting CT, making it even harder to attack. One of the things about the old assault was that if a group of you rushed front door you could do well... but now I find it hard to pick out the T's quickly during a front door rush, which... leads me to die often.
There's so much stuff I'm not used to seeing yet I guess.
I'm sure my opinions will change with time.
