Hello Snarkers..

I have been working on my web page. I have started to work on it, and have one of the many pages done. Please have a look.

I used an IFRAME on the page, it loads great in Firefox, Netscape and Opera, but for some reason IE6 devides up the images some. I am not sure how to fix this, unless I recut the images to fit differantly.

Morphine should like the one page I have done so far, since its a World of Warcraft page, and a guild he is apart of.

for you IFRAME [FLOATING FRAME] haters.. if you know of a better way I can do the page and have it look the same, let me know, I dont know another way, also how can I adjust the size and color of the IFRAME scroll bar?

Iframes can get nasty. If they work decently in firefox, they stop working in IE, and vice versa.

You better divide your page in a lot of regular frames to get the same effect as an Iframe. It's harder, it's a silly thing to do, but I found out - through experience - that it's the only way to make it work.

Define style of crossbar ... I dunno, you might try some CSS code, but remember it only works in IE.

See the little house at the bottom of all my post.. I figured most people were smart enough to know that goes to my home page, and would click that. But then again you have been under some stress recently so I will make it easier for you..

DOH never mind, im an idiot.. that goes to my blog.. heh.. sorry.

There will be five areas.. The SeaBees my World War 2 era clan, the OPFOR my modern day combat clan, The Lions Pryde, WOW guild Alliance, 3B Horde WOW guild.. and then the main page where I will have my mapping, miniature painting, and all that crap located. I have choosen to have one centerlized FORUM for all the pages.. I could have upto 5 mysql thingies.. but I plan on using one for an on-line store and another for my blog.

The layout is cool, but I think the colours you chose in the Lions page don't match: black background, blue frame, green text, etc... I dunno, it's too much; maybe you should go for some grays or whites... But I like the theme; very RPG style.

Use a css or whatever on the site to change the scrollbar colour and style.

I used the colors from the image and spread them around. I wanted thePryde.com in the corner to POP so you knew where you were at all times.. the green text was to bring more of the green out of the image and to be easier to read. All in all its ment to be very colorful.

I can try some off-white text to see if it looks better.. but as of right now im pretty happy with it.. WOW is sorta cartoony and bold and bright and I think the web page captures that pretty well.

( as for the CSS style to change the scroll bar color, will that work in every browser Myrk, or just IE users? )

IE is the only browser that supports changing the scroll bar color.

that site has some nice tools.. That one was a help.. where it says body you put iframe instead. But I got it to work once, and then removed it because I didnt like the colors and now I cant seem to get it to work any more. Oh well.. only people useing IE would of been able to enjoy it anyways.. and with so many people on Firefox now a days.. it would of been a wasted effort.

Rival - IE = Internet Explorer, the browser Windows is packaged with. iframe, is a HTML thingy.. its code for setting a box on your page like a frame except this one floats in place instead of deviding the page up into sections, like classic frames do.

If you goto my page, and you see the area where the pages load in the small box area inside the image, thats an iframe.. I used it to get the look and placement of the window I wanted the different pages to load.

As for the Scrollbars, I was thinking can I can turn them off, and add code to use the mouse wheel to scroll down, or add in the bottom corner some arrows that when pushed would scroll the page up and down? would that be better than the classic scroll bars there now?

Thanks man.. now to build the other 4 sites.. Im thinking of making the main site with mambo.. just to be different. =)

I dont normally use Iframes, because all my Linux buddies get on me about it. Heck I still get crap for useing winblows.

This worked to get my Iframes scrollbar colors allright in IE:
Define the colors in an external css file, named scroll.css or something.

On every page that runs in an I-frame, add this line in the <head> part

<link rel="stylesheet" href="scroll.css" type="text/css">

I tested the page in FireFox, IE, Opera, and Netscape, and a couple other browsers I have, and it looked fine. I have not looked at it in a couple of the Linux Browsers yet, but with mozilla it looked fine.

From what I read the color scrollbar is only in IE5.5 or better. So I was not worried about it in Mozilla.

I will give that scroll.css a try, thanks for the idea.

Hehe im just dling the new patch for WoW as im viewing this (IMO its faster through fileplanet than through the blizzard updator).
You may want to elaborate on what kinds of raids you plan on doing, like PvP raids, or instance raids (and even elaborate on those: Black Rock Depths, Upper/lower Black Rock Spire, Scho., Strath, etc), I also notice you suffer the WoW plague: Too many Palidins :P
But I like the visuals alot: The night elf is a nice touch <img src=" SRC="images/smiles/icon_smile.gif">

Well at one time the pryde was over 300 members strong.. I was expected to be at the beck and call of everyone else to help them, but when I asked for help, no one was ever able to assist me.. So I just quit playing wow one day after telling a bunch of people off.. Its been like 6 months since I last played.. and when I logged on, I was greeted very well.. everyone seemed to know the Famous blackbeard... And i was asked to start te pryde back up by many of the old members, so I started it under a new name, with a plan to never get above 100 members again if I can help it.. it was a bitch to run a guild of that size alone.

As for Raids, many of the old pryde are 60 or damn near even with alts, and want to do all the big nasty instance dungeons and some want to be big in Battlegrounds.. So I guess I will appoint people to run those activities, and I'll try to relax more and enjoy the game. I have to be honest I have lost touch with most of the higher level areas of the game.. and dont know what we will be doing.. As I know the web page can adjust to point it out to our guest.

The Horde page I am doing now will also carry a similure look..

Better? That's a relative term if I ever heard one.

In general, most, if not all, styles should be in a separate file. It makes things very handy once you begin doing dynamic work. (You can have different styles depending on user, for example)

And money, dude, you don't use iframes INSTEAD of a body tag, you use it in addition.

php includes only work if the other page is a php page as well. There really is no reason for him to use php unless he starts using dynamic content with data (such as a forum or a user base).

Money, let me ask you a question, if all you did to a page was include an iframe what would be the use of the iframe if nothing else was on the page? Just go directly to whatever page you've targeted.

Basically, you use iframes when there is a small area that you wish to change the page of, such as a content frame or something as such. You could have the main page always stay the same (runs faster if you put the graphics on that page too) and then some frame in the middle (iframe or normal frame, same thing, just one can be moved around) to have the content of the page.

It's also not that hard to make iframes look decent in all the browsers, so I don't know what you're all going on about there. All you do is define it for them all. (mozilla allows right, left, top, and bottom alignment, IE doesn't. But IE DOES allow widths and heights. Easy thing to do is put both in the styles and tweak it so it works in both browsers)

I'm not sure what else to explain, I don't know where you got the idea that an iframe replaced the body tag. Maybe you're confusing it with normal frames?

Frames in general are just good for navigational purposes. However, it gets a little tricky when using popups as well. I made a site for a project about a year ago (doesn't work in IE very well, but that's because I didn't go through and tweak it and we targeted a specific browser and went to work) and I incorporated all these things together.

And iframes are just about the only good web-development item to come out of Microsoft, thus it being adopted by W3C.
