Does anyone here play any form of poker online? If you do, at which site(s) and why?

I'm thinking about starting to play, so if you have any good sites to recommend, please do.

www.multipoker.com seems to be one of the biggest and best sites around. They have an invitation system where both the one inviting and the one invited can earn money, so if someone who's already a member at www.multipoker.com feel like inviting me, please send me a PM.

Yeah, i sometimes play on PartyPoker, i'm not really very good tho, i just play on the 'fake money' tables. Playing online kinda takes the fun out of it though, poker is much better with friends.

Would you be playing for cash or just for fun?

I'll play for real cash, after getting used to the interface playing with play money. I won't be playing for much money in the beginning though.

I just realized that the smallest stakes at both Multipoker.com and Partypoker.com are $0.50/$1. As I have very little experience I'd rather play at tables with smaller stakes, to begin with. I'll see if I can find someplace where I won't have to bet as much.

Hehe, I'll be amazed if you find a table with a lower stake than $0.50/$1.00 tbh. It's the standard minimum. By the way, the 'play money' tables are a very frustrating way to learn as most of the players dont take their bets seriously and will call anything. Its a bit of a double headed snake, you either learn how to play properly and most likely lose at least $50, or you learn to play against people who dont care if they lose their money and end up losing at least $50 when you do start betting for real.

May I suggest something. How about you don't gamble at all. Seems it can be bad for your health, and your bank account. And don't tell me its just a bit of fun, thats how its starts, and before you know it you've sold a kidney, an eye, both your legs, your siblings, and anything else that isn't nailed down <img src=" SRC="images/smiles/icon_wink.gif">.

Lol, you are right, i'm not gonna play for real money again, I'll just lose it. I decided that as soon as I lost the first $50 in about 30 mins.

Actually, expekt.com has tables with stakes as low as $0.05/$0.10. I've registered there now, and I've actually earned a buck or something. <img src=" SRC="images/smiles/icon_wink.gif">
Also, they have quite a few freerolls everyday, which is nice. They have casino games as well.

Some people have made a fortune gambling, so why not give it a try. <img src=" SRC="images/smiles/icon_wink.gif">

Because more people have lost a fortune from gambling.

I play poker at PartyPoker, I do good until someone comes in and just bets all their fake chips when they don't have any cards... I really don't like to fold pocket kings. <img src=" SRC="images/smiles/sad.gif">

Then don't!

The bets tend to be a little wilder in play money games as no one has invested anything, or can win anything for that matter.

You can win virtual poker chips. <img src=" SRC="images/smiles/icon_wink.gif"> I've made a good 35k or so... and most of the people do tend to play it as if it were real... the ones that don't just kill me 'cause they're... idiots. And the chips are free.

If anyone's interested I've lost $50 so far. Way to go with the fortune.

Planing to buy a poker book or two, to learn something. So if anyone has a book to recommend, go ahead.
