I was just curious as to what people are irrationally afraid of. I
for one have a close to maniacal fear of cockroaches. When I see one, I
mutilate it until it doesn't resemble a roach anymore. Also have a
partial fear of gravity but heck I'm into flight so it figures.

There are so many more phobias than the ones you have listed, you should have included an "other" option. My particular phobia is of bees and wasps. It's truly uncontrollable how I react when one pays too close attention to me.

I concur with Juim. I'm afraid of death/fast spiders/big spiders/deep water/heights.

I'm a walking wreck.
Heights make me really nervous, and if I have to go across a footbridge, I have to walk along the middle so that I can't see down below quite so much!
Like Juim, bees and wasps make me react in ways I wish I wouldn't! When I was younger, a wasp came near me and I turned round and ran - straight into a lamp-post, knocking myself out. All I remember is waking up in bed with a cracking headache.
People pointing sharp objects in my direction freaks me out too!

I got rid of the gravity phobia and added the "other".

My vote was Batophobia (wierd name). I fear that even 2m boards of wood will fall on top of me. Sucks.

I have a fear of swimming in the sea/ocean on my own, thanks to watching too many shark documentaries in my youth. Also, I recently started to develop a fear of flying (more to do with turbulence knocking the plane out of the sky at 36,000 feet than terrorism), though that seems to be slowly going away again. Strange given that I've flown about 40,000 miles a year for the last 10 years or so.

No option for poison headcrabs...
I guess of all the options given, apart from other, I've probably got arachniphobia. Also big moth phobia, whatever youd call that.

A guy showed me one of those hissing cockroaches a while ago and said some people actually keep them as, well, PETS. Now what kind of man wouldn't
want a giant hissing cockroach as a pet? It was my nightmare come-true!
And what's more, I wasn't allowed to kill it but every bit of it's
aspect looked as if it was begging to be stomped-on.
By my standards, tho, lizards snakes and toads are cute. My favorites are lizards, they're cool.

I can get pretty freaked out by spiders, but I'm getting better around
them these days. Used to bloody terrify me, and my sister used that to
her advantage on too many occasions.

I used to have a problem with bees/wasps until I realized they don't
sting you if you leave them alone... but even THAT got me stung once
'cause I just let it climb up my shirt, then a few minutes later I
noticed it was in my HAIR, then like 10 minutes later I just casually
stroked my wonderful hair and *STIIIIIIIIING*

I don't like spiders, but I am no fan of cockroaches either.
Back in Taiwan, cockroaches are as big as the palm of your hand, and they can fly! At night, when someone turns on the light, the room would be filled with fluttering insects. Sometimes, for unknown reasons, they seem to have predilection of flying into people's faces.
I hate that.

Strangely enough, that just about how they are here in Romania. But what's the point in wondering why? After all, we have black widows on the seaside and we've had about 6 tornados (like the ones in the US) in 2 months!
