1) Where are the nazis? Oh, yeah; They weren't even invented yet (f**k).
2) Beliar IS NOT A VAMPIRE, but the original devil banished by mephisto.
3) Beliar's parts are not TALISMANS (such a sissy word) but RELICS.
4) Rayne's hair is blood-red.
Thus, the only things that the movie and the game have in common are the title and Rayne.

Half life 1 the movie:
"GORDON FREEMAN GET OUT OF THERE OH NOESSSS!!!!"
*Boom*
"Gordon, get to the other side of campus... there is no time constraint, since technically there is no deadline."
Gordon: HOly s**t that is one big ugly floating Baby!
Roll Credits
Half Life 2 the movie:
"Oh thank god Gordon you're alive, now you can go do... something we're not sure what yet... but at some point, we're sure your mere presence will destroy the combine."
"Oh s**ts hotsie was captured better go get her out of the big black tower!"
"Oh NOES!!! Everything blew up in the rescue attempt."
Audience: WTF is that guy in a suit talking about?
Roll Credits
Yeah I see a saturday morning cartoon and everything, that is real oscar worthy material right there. Everyone is aware the plot for Half-life 1 was: "Go to that other building please". and the Second's was "Please kill the nasty combines'es:"

It maybe ok.. I dont think it will be overly scary.. but it will have its parts that are designed to make you jump. More of a Suspense Thriller, with gore.
It maybe ok.. I can say its a video rental for me.. I dont see movies in house anymore.. too damn expensive.. besides with a 65 inch HDTV.. I dont really need the theater.
Yes I do. The Christian movment is stalling out and dieing off. Thank God.. Damn evil Christians.
And its not and evil virus, as its genedic tampering.

And prior Dooms were nothing but straight-up action. Makes sense to me. *shrug*
I hope Raven software doesn't think like you with respect to Quake 4, else its doomed!

However, it'd probably be a good idea to just write something with the intent on it being an HL movie and end up calling it something else with different character names.

I beg to differ. Consider:
Metropolis
Run Lola Run
Fantasia
Black Hawk Down
Alien
...
Need I go on?

From the standpoint of a solid movie and not any kind of noir or specific style, yes, it needs those elements.
The other thing you'll notice is that most of those movies are a one time deal. Especially Alien.
If you want to argue that a movie is not strongest with a solid plot then you'll get grounded into dust. It can be done without one, but only by talented people, in the realm of selling movie rights off of hot topic media: It will need all the help it can get.
But don't think I'm not a fan of film noir or rather obscure films. I love them when they're done well (which sometimes is not the case). Also, you forgot 2001. There's little dialog, it's basically a music montage. The characters emotions are shown through sound as opposed to dialog. Which, personally, I think should be done more often, but not to the same degree, of course.
Wilson, that's what I was talking about, actually. But, from a viewer standpoint the entire background story of HL2 is far better the delve into in a film format then the presented scenario for HL1. It'd be far better to discuss it and let the audiences mind run wild. (Remember in the original Star Wars when they mentioned the Clone Wars, and you were all, "?". Then when the actual clone wars was shown you were rather disappointed?) HL1 is set up like that. Disappointing in regards to plot. Granted, it'd be great as Die Hard 7 or whatever, it wouldn't work well with the same type of feel they went with in HL2. And I think, that feel and overall ambiance should be adopted as being "Half-Life".
Not that anyone will agree with me, I'm sure.

HL1 would be a much harder movie to make then HL2. in HL2 there were so many viewpoints and so many possibilities for sub-plots. HL1 is just fight aliens, government conspiracy, save the world which is a great plot for a game but wouldnt work well in a movie.
if a HL movie came out i dont think it should be centred around Freeman. maybe around Alyx, or Barney or a whole new character even where they spoke of a mysterious man called 'Gordon Freeman' and you merely glimpse him in the movie. so basically a movie set in the HL universe, not centred around gordon, a plot that sets along side the HL2 one.
it shouldnt be like the normail game-to-movie cliche flicks but more serious, or dark, or whatever not just something people will say 'Hey! That was a fun flick!'

Metropolis had dialogue in the form of subtitles, and due to loss of footage, they had to even do expositionairy subtitles in parts to fill in missing scenes.
Just because people don't talk doesn't mean there isn't dialogue. I know for a fact the rest of those movies do infact have dialogue as well.
They also all have a very strong story (hence plot). Therefore your list is meaningless as it does not demonstrate movies devoid of plot or dialogue. So yes please go on, I would like to see the list started.
Half Life would have:
No plot "Please Mr Freeman go to the other building."
and...
Very little dialogue "Gordon, Thank god you're alive."
Of course hollywood could make a movie based on "go to the other building" create a convincing plot to make a movie around, you would whine bitch moan about them "changing" things when infact all they did was create something that simply doesn't exist. Half life was a great experience not a great story. Where is the character arc for freeman? "Shoot s**t.... shoot big ass baby." We dont' learn anything more about him he doesn't find out any revelations about himself. He just shoots stuff. At the end of the movie nothing would be resolved, except a big ugly fat thing would be dead, nobody would be apperantly saved from anything, since everyone he encounters pretty much dies shortly thereafter. Trying not to die for 2 hours wouldn't be entertaining as a film. All they got to work off of is:
Gordon Freeman
Vague Government Conspiracy?
Aliens that teleport in.
Get to other building.

Uhm Alien had dialog and a plot.. Come on everyone has to have the WAVE file GAME OVER MAN GAME OVER. by now.. lol
BlackHawk down was about a real life event so its plot was sorta stuck around that..
As for the rest of your list.. im too tired to argue right now.. lol im gonna goto bed now.. been up all night playing WOW.
