it went sorta like the scenario i played out a few posts ago. I haven't had another GF since then and I'm extremely happy about it. I have TONS more money, now. Money to spend on MEEEEEEEEEE!

well it had to play out like that cause it's written in nature's laws

no seriously, you're right that there's nothing wrong with being single, but for me it's not for the money. This year i was single and it was one of the greatest years i had. There's just more room for going out with friends and meeting tons of new ppl, having ONS etc. By which i dont mean i would avoid a relationship if it felt right.

I hear ya. I've been single the past, mmmmmm, uh, since two decembers ago. A year and a half, And it's been GREAT! it's exactly as you say. And plus I really haven't found anyone i like since then. I live in a small town and I already know/have dated everyone. that or they know me and when they KNOW you you're in the "friend zone." I don't know what ONS is, but i guess it's like HARD ONS?

OH! it's "one night stands" isn't it? I don't have those. (ONS, not HARD ONS) If i ever found a good relationship that felt right I'd not pass it by.

Well, thanks for anyone, but Nickel and you all guys... somehow I think you're VERY wrong.

1) I have a friend who got married 16 smiley She was only half a year older.
2) In estonian culture, it is LEGAL to marry if you're under 18, you just got to have your parents' permission for this. That is... WRITTEN permission to somekind of law s**t... I don't know so well, but that brings us to the next point...
3) IF anything comes out with Eileen... (hey - i know what a love looks and feels like, so don't come to give me s**t about it. I told you - I've wanted to sleep with lots of girls, but there are only 2 girls in my life whom I liked not because they were only beautiful or that I would have wanted to sleep with them. No. I didn't. One was Gerli and I could TELL that I actually loved her. But as I said... I blew up in 5th grade by not paying any attention to her... pretending I hated her... (a real stupid thing to do, I say). But I never felt anything like this (again and again..) in my life. That snap. I still am afraid of "what if something bad happens to her?" "What am I going to have to do then?"... you know... you really fully get over from the ones you've really loved, as I think most of you have been in love. You still are vary of what happens to them)... then even now I don't feel that I would want to only have sex and marry her. For the ones you love... sex isn't the only thing. I am even willing to wait until she finishes her studies. Yes, you heard me. I can wait until she gets to her 18-s. The 4 year difference doesn't matter, she looks even now more mature than I am. In reality. And even acts like one. In MSN though... she is really like 13 y/o. So you could tell the difference.
4) I care about what happens to her. I want her to be happy at all costs. As I mentioned in brackets... for the ones you love, having sex is not the only thing that matters. Actually care about her, you will. For he who loved Gerli, still cares about if she should get hurt or even die, she still in his heart is. And if you love someone enough... even if you two don't come up... it still hurts if she gets hurt. Same for Eileen. I'm a guy who would fall in love very easily, yes, but I've never fell in love THAT easily. So I hope it's not really love right now. I got hurt before and I don't want this to happen again. I don't want to blow up neither. Nobody stays in my mind that bright than the ones I've loved. I'm talking about Gerli again, ofcourse. For anyone I can remember, are not that bright. For she... well, let's just say even Gerli does not feel that bright. I usually forget birthdates very easily, but again - it took me just a brief second to memorize Gerli's birthday and I only had to HEAR the birthdate of Eileen and I was like.. geezh, I've never remembered any birthdate THAT easily! I don't even know if I really remember my mum's BDay... (okay, she's dead but like I cared... she wasn't really for a mum, she didn't live in same city and was married for an asshole who had 5 wives before to who he beat and all... they got drunkards. Me mum was the only one not able to skip him. Was she afraid of him? Or didn't she have a home to go? Oh no. I think she just loved him, that's it. She could've just come to my place and the Family would have taken good care of him. (not as in "take care of her"... more as in "take care of her" [notice the same sentence?] And if you know the meaning of the word Family ( yes yes, a capitalized letter ), then you'll indefinitely know what I am talking about. You'll indefinitely already know what certain people know when saying "Family".).
5) It's not a blind love... I first saw her at the entrance area, checking people in. But the moment I started to like her was when she asked me if "a guy had paid for his pizza, because she was afraid of that guy since he was so big and bold looking". (I don't know if "bold" is the right word... for me he just felt as an ordinary guy, nothing more. But I think she didn't actually mean the word "bold", I couldn't translate what she really said). The point is that I really suck at close-ups. I don't do well in real. I can do VERY well in virtual world, but I suck in reality. I just hope I get better and better daily.

Oh damn.. I really blab too much.. I should just write a novel using different names and all, but just put everything I've ever felt in it.. or more like doing it like thoughts of another man... a movie-like..

Oh, and just one more thing... I've never "confessed" like that anywhere you know... to anyone... it is just the Snarkpit feels really like a bunch of guys like me who I could trust...

Well, I guess that is true, sense we're on the internet and couldn't do a thing to you if we wanted to. To me, this just seems wrong, but I'm an American, and you live in Estonia, so of course there is a cultural difference. Good luck to you man.

First of all let me preface by saying that I KNOW you will think, "I won't do that, she won't do that..."

Madedog. I understand exactly how you feel. I've felt that way before. It didn't work out for me. I hope it works for you. But I want you to pay good attention to my "scenario post" all the same. Even though it may sound sarcastic, cynical, bitter, and other such things, it is based on lots of real experiences lots of which are my own. I know it may not seem like i care when i blast-a-n00b or when i argue voraciously with someone over something stupid, but I really do care. I care about each and every one of you here on the SnarkPit.* I just want to make sure you're not caught completely off-guard IF this scenario were to play out.

Jupp Madedog,

This 'scenario' is hard. But I have been there, as well. Just ... consider it. Nothing more for the moment.

You seem to be a real loveable guy. So I wish you all the luck. I'd love to keep in touch with this story. I don't know what the other guys think; but I'd be very happy to hear what's going on between you two. Just how it developes... nothin' intimate.

After all.

take care

Madedog, I commend you on taking action on it rather than just let it go. As all of us guys know, it takes tremendous courage to ask a girl out, especially if she's someone you care a lot for.

However, having been there and done that, I can tell you that you are in fact *not* in love, but you are infatuated with her. This doesn't mean that you won't fall in love with her later, but all the symptoms and signs you've described make me conclude that you're simply infatuated.

Now, don't get me wrong. Infatuation is a powerful thing. In fact, it can burn brighter and hotter than real love, but by definition, it's not everlasting. It's relatively short-lived (which means less than a year).

You're still young, she's still young, so I see no harm in dating her. I don't think much of the age difference. Seventeen and thirteen isn't that big of a deal. It sounds like you have plenty of respect for her, and that's a good start.

I've been infatuated with many girls in my life, but when you really fall in love, you'll know right away that it's different from infatuation. It's hard to explain, but I promise you that you'll realize it when it happens to you.

Infatuation can feel a lot like love at first, but stronger. Love is more like a gentle warmth instead of sizzling heat.

Good luck to you with her.

I already have. I asked her to cinema... she is yet to reply.. away atm.
Anyway, at cinema I'm gonna work harder on it... I'm gonna tell I like her

As I told you, I blew up with Gerli. But this time I'm more wise and DO recognize the signs flipping around me and her. There were a lot for Gerli which actually showed me she liked/loved me, but she had the guts to (is "guts" the real word for dames?) at least hint me.

I've never infact heard of "infatuation"... i'm gonna have to get a dictionary, really...

Okay, got it. Nah, it's not infatuation I have.. it's more like a love at first sight. I don't even have a unbearable feeling to kiss her... neither for gerli, which infact IS one part of infatuation.

You said it was infatuation between me and Gerli aswell? Hereby I grant... you are WRONG. The feeling is in me for 5 years now... do you really think I won't give a damn what happens to women I love? I do. I don't know what I am gonna do if something happens to Gerli. So... I loved her. I really HAVE had infatuation for many girls, yes siree. They fade away. I have wanted to kiss them. I still can hold it back though. But for Gerli it felt different. So does it for Eileen. Only THIS time it is WAY stronger. I'd like to have a sign which tells me I won't lost her

And thanks

Well, it may be love after all. Only time will tell. But love and infatuation are definitely not exclusive. In fact, infatuation is frequently the precursor to true love.

From Wikipedia:

? quote:
Also in distinction from love, limerence tends to be comparatively short-lived. It can last up to one and half years or so, but typically lasts only a few months. Either reciprocation occurs and limerence is replaced by other feelings (possibly lasting love),

But take things slowly (not total inaction, of course). And letting her know of your feeling is one important step. I think people tend to play games too much, afraid to reveal how they really feel about one another.

Honesty is much appreciated in today's world, and I think she'll appreciate that from you. You've got nothing to lose by telling her, but you've got everything to lose by not telling.

So go for it. Godspeed to you.

Thank you agian, satchmo.
And as I said... the love-kind of feeling against Gerli still lasts... I will take it slowly (the heck... she IS only 13, and - as she said - she doesn't like guys only after her virginity <img src=" SRC="images/smiles/icon_wink.gif">). I will tell her I like her. I'm never doing same mistake twice. And I don't play too much games, I was just young and dumb in 5th grade to tel anything :P
i know about honesty, yes I do. And so I hope. I get to lose some things if she thinks I suck, like her, but I won't keep trying, I'm telling you. If she tries dumping me... I'm gonna tell her about the signs, that's it.

Oh, and one more thing... I'm going to gym for her :P Noone could have done this for me, not if their life depended on it, but she... didn't even have to tell anything. I thought it all up by myself.

And hey - if nothing turns up, it will be a good love novel!

Is Estonia a spin-off of the soviet union? why do they use Latin alphabet? I mean, I hav never seen so many double letters in my life. "haar klaar diir raajjiit." it's like they all have palsy over there. JK

I don't want you to get the wrong impression, I DO wish you luck. and the possibility of a painful breakup is no reason to avoid relationships. I hope you guys have everything you ever wanted. But it takes wanting the same thing to make it work for good.

So if you find out that you want different things out of life, just lie to her until you can marry her, then make her do all the chores and stuff. I don't beleive in true love anymore, so that's MY plan!!

You know, i've asked myself the same thing but never dared ask someone from Estonia about it mainly because of how I feel about people who ask me the same thing about my country (which is, for the 999 thousand time, latin).

Well, I'm pretty dang sure Romania isn't a former soviet. They've been a country for a long time! But estonia is probably like Moldova and Georgia. They are former soviets, but use Latin Alphabet because of some governmental decision. "Rumania Rules, Bitches!" "Miami Wice is cool new show!" just kidding Andrei.

Indeed, the Soviet Union went through a terrific run in a prime time slot, but in the end, there were just too many egos. While Mother Russia fled to Hollywood to star in a number of motion pictures, Estonia was spun off into its own series Wednesday nights on the WB. Supporting actors include Lithuania is the wild, whacky neighbor and Fred Willard as the demanding boss.

If you want the real answer as to it's location, there are three smallish globular shaped countries along the Baltic Sea, straight east from Denmark. They are Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia. I can never remember which is which, but I figure knowing this information (and also knowing there is in fact an unconnected piece of Russia in there too) is enough to placate any internationals I might encounter into viewing me as more than just another dumb, self-centered American.

I am that dumb American.

For a while, I thought Estonia is a fictitious country that exists only in the Dilbert comics. I apologize for my ignorance in world politics, and I am deeply sorry if I had offended any Estonian out there.

I've been on the receiving end of other people's ignorance. I was born in Taiwan, but many people think that's just a different pronounciation for Thailand.
