So, what languages do you speak? Ordered by the "fluentness" of your speech in that language.

I'll start.

1) Estonian
2) English
3) German
4) Russian
5) Finnish
6) Latin
7) Italian
8) French
9) Spanish
10) Chinese

Can you beat that?

And not very skilled in

American (Want to bet that this hasn't become a separate dialect?)
Programing (They're languages which can be spoken)

I knew other languages. Forgot Spanish and Arabic, since I didn't know anyone else who was fluent or spoke in it often enough.

Blame it on Microsoft, God does.

Talk about a show off thread Madedog :P

I speak only English. I learnt French in school and was pretty proficient at it, but having not used it at all in the past 5 years I can't recall very much now. I'm sure languages are the sort of thing that come back to you when you start trying to use it again.

Madedog, how many words of Chinese do you know? I kinda doubt it's too many.

Mandarin Chinese is my first language, but I started learning English in 1985. I also learned Spanish in high school, and I can converse slowly in Spanish with my patients.

I can read books in all three languages, although I need a dictionary nearby when I read Spanish novels.

1. English
2. er..
3. that's it.

I've tried Italian and German (under my own volition) and French (not) and find that I have no talent in that direction at all.
I've nothing but admiration for you lads who can correspond in a language that isn't your own: and very often better than native speakers - most notably the Dutch and Americans

I don't believe that. Your picture looks like your 12 years old. Even if you were a genius it would take many years to learn that many languages.

I can't believe people are listing programming languages as spoken languages <img src=" SRC="images/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif">

You could... I just haven't found anyone geeky enough to do it with.

I really doubt that madedog can speak all those languages...

I speak:

1. Dutch
2. English
3. Fries (a not-so-well-known language, and not-so-important these days)
4. German

I've learnt French, or rather, I should've learned French. I've had Latin too, but I can barely translate a text, leave alone speaking the language.
I am learning papiamentu at the moment, and can speak that a little. More fun that the previous two languages, imho.
