I got a great idea when i played HL2:dm the other day. At least i think it's great, dunno about you

Well i have surround sound speakers, i love them in multiplayer when you can just turn around and point into the exact location in the wall where you hear shooting or steps and know exactly where the enemy are. ^^

And i also like to listen to music while i play, but the music is like, "on top" of other sounds in the game and kind of disturbs the play. So i thought if the music came from a XYZ location in the game like a soundscape do it would be really cool and much easier to listen to music.

Is there any way to play sounds from an XYZ location or make some kind of custom soundscapes in the game so the music comes from them etc. I could use the play command but it just plays the music, not from a location on the map.

It shouldn't be cheating to do that, i mean what kind of advantage is that to have custom soundsscapes? It would just be cooler.

I don't want to insert or modify anything in the bsp files. But there should be some way to play a sound from an XYZ position using a console command.

You can't do it by way of a custom soundscape. The reason is that the map had to specify a map location for a section of the soundscape to play, ie the position 1 flag on the env_soundscape entity. So, you would have to edit the bsp or find another way. I personally just lower the volume on my music player and it works out just fine.

K, so i would have to modify the memory... firstly that's HARD you got to be t3h l33t h4x0r ... and second .. you will probably get banned by VAC2 even though you aren't cheating .

Well, i'll try somehow ;]
