As to the general quality of the entries, they accurately reflect the mappers who made them. A number are fairly new to mapping so there work isn't going to be as swish as the veteran mappers. I think thats the thing, it seems that none of the veteran's here or on other sites have been able to enter. A sign of the times I guess, having less time to do the things you love.

Just took a quick run through of the other maps. I guess I can't be too critical since I couldn't muster the energy to sit in front of the computer all summer making a submission myself. But as someone with a surrealist art background I felt like maybe I was expecting too much. But then again, I really like a couple of these.
It's tricky making someting surreal and yet playable as a fun DM map. There's a lot of give and take choices to make. I spent a lot of time working out ideas in my head when the contest was first announced and spent hours trying to mork them out. (one was the magic hallway of doors from cartoons made with a series of teleports- I'd love to see someone make that work).

Yaaa.
/me hugs.
On topic: I know that this has been brought up before but apparently not within the last 4 months as I was forced to request this thread unlocked.
How would everyone feel if we 1st, voted on a representing body to determine the winners and 2 have a site wide vote for these maps? Somehow, having them lost into abandoned obscurity seems a gross misconduct to me. ![]()
I would also request volunteers to write some review type pages for the event.
IMO, the very delay of this event precludes punishment to those who were tired of waiting and released their maps before the results and I feel no adverse penalty should be imposed on any entrant. Opinions?
Anyway, If the outlook seems favorable, perhaps we can get an admin to release the maps to the voted representatives????

While i'm all for a 2006 competition, to start it up when not even finishing the 2005 one would be quite unfair to us
Gwil had some great intentions on finishing it by starting to put them on the server. maybe a way to round it up is to organize playtests with the judges and/or interested members. Since Lep isnt here a seperate voting site might not be easy, so maybe just have an official poll in general banter after the playtests?

Well if someone is patient enough to create multiple accounts as to vote more than once means that they're also patient enough to post 3 words as to validate their (fake) votes.
How about having a thread to nominate judges?

Yeah, sorry about that - there's a couple of maps on there already but nothing concrete. I've just been overwhelmed by starting university and having a full timetable to cater for.
