I will be moving soon. So far back I doubt they have even invented 56k yet. I would like to say that for the most part it has been a very enjoyable, and quite a fantastic learning experience being here. My thanks to everyone whom took a moment to assist me in my trial period.

I will be back if I am able.

Take care.

Where are you going, Underdog? Wherever it is it sounds remote, and none the worse for that - you lucky bugger. All the best, mate. Bon voyage.

Ouch, sounds like hell but I'm sure it will have its benefits too. Hope to see you back man; its nice to have a more experienced and level head around the forums...particularly with most of our other older members currently being inactive. Best of luck with the move <img src=" SRC="images/smiles/icon_smile.gif">

Well all. The good news is, I am most appreciative for the sentiments given, both good and the other kind. Most importantly, I have an internet connection, of sorts. After DSL for so long, 56k is an experience that is akin to internet hell, but being the person I am, I will endure. Some connection, is better than the purgatory I have endured these last 3 weeks without any connection at all.

Now, all I need do is set my machine to cope with 56k. Meaning, turning off all the niceties such as images and what not.

Again. thank all.

Finally, got a permanent residence. Sadly I am still on 56k but hey, its better than soup cans and a string.

The nightmare began what, only a score days ago? Seems like months. Since last I was here, some slopehead on a road grader plowed up the phone lines and ruined everyones connection. Then when I move I find out that this residence had no phone lines. EVER! Phone company just now, TODAY got all my lines installed.

Anyway, my hopes are to be around a bit more often.

The good news? I had a chance to finally play my very old, but new copy of Unreal II. Played it through to the end and must confess the graphics were phenomenal. The storyline however was more closely reminiscent of Quake. Marine type rescues so and so.

It was nice to know that my machine was up to the task of running it full tilt. <img src=" SRC="images/smiles/icon_smile.gif">

I do however have one MAJOR complaint. I could NOT play HL2 off line. Does anyone know how to activate offline mode?

I must also confess that I missed a few of you in my imposed absence. Its good to be back.

You have to get it running like with steam connected ... then go to offline mode (exit ... not logout if you have that option, cut the net connection, then start steam again)

That should work, if it doesn't browse the support section of steampowered.com for an answer. If you don't find one ... may you have a non-peroulis journey through the wastelands of steampowered forums ... or send an email which will probably not get answered.

But their support it pretty decent.

Blame it on Microsoft, God does.
