Okay then! I just got a flashy idea!
We are going to have a contest right here right now on the most beautiful song snarkpitters know. Firstly we will pick out ten favourites people like the most, then make a vote with it so we can finally find out which is the most beautiful song.

So, right now you're going to start putting down the songs you think are the most beautiful. Everyone of us should be so kind as to put down the name of the song, author and (recommendedly) the performer(s). Hopefully you can share the song with us, or we have to hope it is very common over certain (ahem) networks.

The song doesn't have to be in english, it can be in whatever language, performed by whoever and whenever. You can propose up to 5 songs, which will be then selected out by people on a second topic. Ten songs that get the most points will go to final vote. The rules of voting will be made more clear in the course of it.

I believe, after this text, nobody will argue on the point "why didn't the Recently Listened thread fit for this".

Thank you.

vincent, by don mcclean. i couldn't tell you where it was, probably somewhere in san francisco, mid 1960's, but i seen a recording of a live performance that almost made me cry.

there's a lot of more modern music that has the same effect, but for very different reasons.

Author - Performer - Song name

Olav Ehala - Heidy Tamme - Valulaul (the song of hurt)
Olav Ehala - Child Choir Ellerhein - P?ikeseratas (the wheel of sun)
Olav Ehala - Child Choir Ellerhein - Vitsalaul (the song of rod)
Olav Ehala - Heidy Tamme - V?ta mind lehtede varju (take me to the shadows of leaves)
Ruja - RAM, Hirvo Surva - Rahu (peace)

RAM stands for Riiklik Akadeemiline Meeskoor, or National Academic Men choir, in Estonian. All of the songs being Estonian doesn't matter, you should enjoy them anyway.

Oooh yeah, Comfortably Numb should be on the list, I love that song.

And the song Vincent. I've never heard it but apparently it's really beautiful. So much, in fact, that my middle name is Vincent after the song <img src=" SRC="images/smiles/icon_smile.gif">

I'm with you there, Fishy.

"Ave Maria" - Maria Callas or similar.
"Vincent" - Don Maclean. As per Fishy and French Toast's parents.
"Shine on you crazy diamond" - Pink Floyd.
"In my life" - The Beatles.
"Theme from Harry's game" - Clannad. Maire Brennan has one of those voices that raise the hairs on the back of my neck.

2: In Flames - Everlost (Part 2) [really nice acoustic song]
3: Goo Goo Dolls - Iris

Ok I can't think of others now, I'm at a blank, but I'll edit my post sometime and add em in.
