? quote:

The new system, developed under the guidance of the GAPP, stops individuals from playing online games for more than three hours by cutting the abilities of game characters. The new system cuts the ability level of a player's online game character by half after he or she has played for more than three consecutive hours. Once a player has played for more than five consecutive hours, the system cuts the ability level of that player's character to the lowest level allowed by the game.

The system also lowers the ability of players to find treasures or prizes available in an online game after they have played for more than three consecutive hours.

Furthermore, the system keeps track of hours of play. Individuals who immediately log back onto a game after three hours of consecutive play will continue to have the ability of their game character lowered by the system. Players must be logged off for a minimum of five hours before the system resets.

This is ridiculous !

Hey Forceflow;

I'm relieved not to play any online games. (considered this, and some similar issues)

And what's the sense of that GAPP thing?

I mean why not let people play their crap as long as they want to?

Because they keep dying after playing for 48 hours straight, or forgetting they have kids/jobs/etc... I'm not saying the new system is right, but asian countries (Korea in particular, though China seems to be picking up too) do seem to have an increasing fanaticism with MMO's, and they obviously felt something had to be done to keep it under control. 3 hours is perhaps a bit stingy - 5 hours on for every 5 hours off might have been more reasonably - but its better than some sort of outright ban.

Yeah, but they have a population crisis over there, so I say let 'em play as much as they want <img src=" SRC="images/smiles/icon_smile.gif">

I agree with this. Sure 3 hours might be harsh but theres a need for new habits. Eventually they might ease it off.

It'll never be popular, that's for sure.

Why would anyone want to play something that's so restrictive? Someone will find a way to play the other "normal" unrestricted online games so they don't have to deal with this crap.

Why's that?

Must be amazing when you aren't allowed to decide for how long you want to play a computer game.

I mean why not let people play their crap as long as they want to?

Why not let HL2 owners play single-player without having to connect to steam?

That's totally different. The Steam connection is a defense against piracy ... This is protecting people ... from theirselves ?

And Blizzard can't do nothing about the Chinese government publishing the patch. They need the authorization anyway to distribute WoW in China.

3 hours on 5 hours off? It's just one more piece of software/hardware waiting to be cracked....you apply a 2kb patch, it won't matter <img src=" SRC="images/smiles/icon_wink.gif">

Unlikely mate - MMO's require a user account that you login to, this could easily be implemented through an entirely server side system, that would make it near enough impossible to work around.

it doesn't stop you from playing after 3 hours, it restricts abilities instead. stuff is harder to find, you fight like a noob etc. it's more of an attempt to make the game less attractive for extended play. 5 hours after logging off, the system resets and full play can resume. i make that 9 hours of possible 'full' play per day. i don't think it's such a terrible idea, tbh.

Funniest thing I've ever seen crack wise was enabling HL2 online play on cracked HL2- funny as f**k! You have to unplug net cables certain seconds into updating and stuff, very amusing and very disturbing how someone found this out...

It's like one of those child safety modes you are able to enable in some games.

Please I want to see a game that has "Governmental Control" instead of "Parental Control" feature now!!!
