I just got a digital camera a few weeks ago (Canon A510), so naturally I'm looking for ways to play with it! I can't remember if we've done this before or not, but I thought it might be interesting if everyone were to post a picture of their home, or someplace reasonably close by. I'm not saying post pictures of your house, just something that captures the character of the place you live. I'd say anything within an hour's drive or so qulaifies... If you haven't got a camera, just post something you can find online that seems representitive...

Anyway, here is my favorite place within an hour of my apartment in Richland, WA.

True, there are no cliffs in Richland. But you get the idea. It's a f**king desert. Taking pictures of the city itself would give you an uncharacteristic view of the area because they water the s**t out of everything to keep it green.




Some people are like slinkys...

They aren?t really good for anything, but you can't help but laugh when one tumbles down the stairs.

The bridge you see there, is for the train line Mechelen - Antwerpen, which was the first train connection in Europe !

This is the so-called St.-Rombouts-tower, the symbol of our city. It's 104 metres high.

In our city, we have a nickname, called the Moon-Extinguishers. There is a legend that some men, after a nice evening of drinking, returned home and thought the tower was on fire, so they started collecting water and fired it at the tower. After a while, they realized it was just the moon behind the tower that made it so lit up. Not a story to be proud of.

These are some pictures of the local town taken by god knows who. I live in a sparsely populated area about two miles away.

All the houses you can see there are shops. Like a bakery and a 'fashion' shop. I order my clothes online, that's for sure.

I live in this house, in a tiny flat. Along with about 20 neighbours, who I barley know.

This is Schliersee. Another two miles in the same direction (to the south). Most of the houses of this tiny village are hidden behind the trees.

Amazing Tracer Bullet. I like to go climbing as well, as a hobby. I tend to do some sort of free climbing. Unfortunately there are no proper rocks like the ones on your pictures around where I live. The only rocks tend to brake apart as soon as you touch them. Very unsecured. Climbing isn't fun where I live.

Even though it's just a screenshot of my desktop, the background photo was taken a year ago a block away from my apartment.

I think consuetude is the magic word here.

I'm used to mountains, tourits, snow in the winter and all that stuff. So I find it quite interesting to live where satchmo lives, or even Windows98. Seems like a nice house.

In europe everything is different. But normal to the concerning person.

Idea: we could organise a SnarkPit-people-exchange. I would go for it.

Here's a shot of the market square of the town I live in well near. Well the town I live in wasnt part of Mansfield a hundred yers ago but it is now.

Its only half hour walk from my house and I have to do it everyday for college cos the college is just out of the town center.

Anyone that lives in the Britain and saw that "10 bast and worst places to live in Britain" show that Channel 4 showed about 3-4 weeks ago that Mansfield they showed was the one I live in/near. Or heard about the place on the news for that matter about all the drunken violence that happens on a friday and saturday night. Bloody annoying it is, one reason why I go out on a thursday or sunday night the other is that the drinks are cheaper.

About half hours drive up the road is a nice little village (if you dont go there that often but if you do you get to see its not so great) called Edwinstowe where I went to school but thats gone now as the government didnt want it anymore. Now this village is the one that is suposedly where Robin Hood lived and this chuch

is the one where he and Maid Marrion are supposed to have been married and this tree called the Major Oak which they estimate to be between 500 and 800 years old

Is supposed to have been his hideout. there is also a nother reason to visit Edwinstowe and that is it has a large anount of pubs you can easly do a pub crawl with out ever leaving the village there's about 6 or 7 pubs with in walking distance of each other the majority of them are acouple of houses from each other. THere is also a Center Parcs just outside of the village.

Oh and Nottingham which is about a hour- hour and a half depending on traffic and amout of cops on the motorway has one of the oldest if not the oldest pub in Britain dating back to the crusades called Ye Olde Trip To Jerusalem.

I will be returning to Europe for the fourth time--this time to Italy only.

I've been to Britain, France, Germany, Switzerland, Netherland, Austria, Czech Republic, and Italy. I've been to Italy twice, and I spent an entire week in Prague (amazing city).

But I do really enjoy living in sunny Southern California, especially near the beach.

Well, the Europe trip didn't happen for a couple of reasons. Greece and Italy were two of the places I really wanted to visit, but the only time I could take off was in August, and I decided that I should save my money and wait for a time when it will be both less crowded and less hot. <img src=" SRC="images/smiles/sad.gif">

Instead I'm just kicking back in Richland for a month and spending time on hobbies I know will fall by the wayside once I hit grad school in the fall.

I guess the bottom line is that most people don't really appreciate where they live... I'm moving to Seattle in a couple of weeks and that should be great. Rain doesn't depress me, so I can't think of anything not to like about it!

Jeah; taht's exactly what I wanted to say. It's really sad: I like this whole village thingy not one bit. I should be happy to be able to live beneath a roof at all.

I just got a Sony DSC-F707 5.0 MegaPixel camera with Carl Zeiss 50x telephoto lens. FANCY! Anyway, I took a picture of one of the scenic parts of the dirt road I live on and photshopped it a bit to make it desktop-background-able.
