They probably intend to expand on it in the future, since it's recieved a spot of it's own within the site. The pit is listed among the good modding sites to visit, especially for the great maps here. I guess all is not lost yet

There's a small feature on MSDN's Coding4Fun section about modding HL2.

Its good to see it there and all, but I dont imagine the Microsoft website is in the front of most peoples minds when they decide to start modding HL2.

Maybe, but the fact is that VALVe seems to be taking the modding
community somewhat seriously. See: VALVE and MS working together to fix
the SDK on VC++2005.
MS won't partner on anything unless there's a serious profit to be made. That means either that HL2 modders are paying MS directly (hah) or there's a whole lot of push from VALVe.
PS: VALVe and MS, VALVe and ATi => MS, ATi and VALVe. The new axis of evil

but it may be somewhere that bored coders would browse. if it can attract any of them to hl2 then it must be a good thing, especially considering how much coders are in short supply.

I always find it somewhat strange that coders can be tough to find for
a project, as really they should be a dime a dozen. I guess of those,
there aren't too many interested in game development however.
Great to see the pit listed there, especially with a personalised blurb. Its a bit nicer to see something like that than just a link with no explanation

We're not entirely sure what a Snark is. But they sure do have a lot of modding content. Mostly lots of great maps to explore.
WHAT! they don't know what a snark is but they are interested in half life ... my arse
" SRC="images/smiles/sad.gif">, good that it's listed though hahaha
