Ghost Recon, of course, is completley different! If there is no secondary action, I generally set mouse2 to run or throw grenade. There'd be some large differences if I had more then three buttons on my mouse.
My mouse sensitivity is pretty high, since my mouse has a very poor "grid". I generally set it to about 14 in HL Games. Otherwise, I'll end up hitting my keyboard and junk.
I want a new mouse, my friend has a really nice one, only about $30 now, it's very smooth and sensitive.
Anyway, something that's related to this: I think z-boards are retarded.

French Toast: I thought I was f**ked up in my wierd configuration, but yours is just totally strange.
Crono: You use pretty much the modern default settings for controls.
-----
Crono, get a wireless optical mouse. It's got the freedom of movement, plus excellent sensitivity.
I didn't trust it for shooter games at first, but when my wife bought me one, I fell in love with it. It's a Logitech.

What I was talking about is the sensitivity "grid", every optic mouse has one. My grid is just larger, because it was a cheaper mouse ...
Not to mention I don't have money ... otherwise I'd have a hard drive that didn't sparatically turn off, a better video card, and the mouse I was talking about
Yeah, I know, that's what I said! I got used to them a long time ago though ... back when all the crazy people were using the arrow keys. or a TFGH configuration. It's comfortable, and that's all I really care about. I may start using ESDF for movement though ... there's just too many seperate functions in some games now, it's just crazy.
Oh and with all bitching aside, my mouse is fantastic considering I payed about $10 3 years ago. Much better then the more common Logitech optics at the time (the $30 ones).

I'm a lefty so have primary fire on right mouse button and secondary on LMB. Same in Windows too - my mouse buttons are swapped over from the default usage (LMB to access right click menus etc).
Mouse wheel - change weapon.
Arrow keys - forwards/backwards/strafe.
Keypad 0 - Jump
Keypad 1 - Sprint
Right ctrl - crouch
Right shift - reload
Enter - Use
Delete/End/Insert/Home/PageUp/PageDown - stuff like flashlight, suit zoom, etc.

I generally use the default HL controls, slightly modified.
Mouse not inverted, sensitivity somwhere between 5 and 10 (I'm comfortable with anything in that range).
WASD for movement
Q = last weapon (I use this a lot)
E = use (In a game with leaning eg. CoD I'll use Q/E for leaning and F as use)
F = flashlight (if no leaning)
Space/Ctrl = Jump/Crouch
Shift = Walk/sprint, depending on game
Scroll wheel = weapon select (no fast switch, except in Q3/UT)
Mouse Left/Right = Primary/Alternate fire
Scroll wheel button = reload (this is probably the best decision I've made)
Thats about it. Different games have slightly different setups, but this is what I try to adhere to.

i always use defaults, set the mouse up high sens ( almost max :o ) in single player games and low sens ( 2.0 ) in counter strike, also in counter strike i bound F to voice communication as a flashlight is utterly useless in that game " SRC="images/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif">
i learnt to use the default settings and i'm quite happy with that as most games use the same settings i won't have to fidle with settings before i go play " SRC="images/smiles/icon_smile.gif">
