Two things caught my attention this morning. One had me laughing till I was sick, the other made me feel sick just listening.

First the news says "F.E.M.A. taking no chances"
The second was "Fuel prices expected to rise once more due to Rita"

With the first I was laughing. Why? Because the f**king President lives down there and no damned way is F.E.M.A. gonna screw up this time.

With the second, well you can just imagine my chagrin with this little tidbit of info. They knew the storm was coming for a week, why didn't the boost production for that time so they could coast along during the storms landfall?

Anyway, for the purpose of todays thread, what bit of news have you heard today?

A plane landed at LA with its nose wheel out of alignment. The footage is awesome.

Don't laugh; I nearly got fried in a similar incident (landing-gear malfunction);

Something I really don't want to remember. Makes me wanna quote my signature.

The news that really caught my attention were about the hurricane that's about to hit Texas.

I didn't watch this on TV, but it's really interesting news, nonetheless.

To summarize, Blizzard coded a "disease" into World Of Warcraft that was supposed to spread only within one location in the game. Due to a bug, players were (are?) able to spread it to players in any location in the game, hence causing an RPG epidemic <img src=" SRC="images/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif">

? quoting MSNBC

Occasionally, somebody suggests detonating a nuclear weapon to shatter a storm.

That sounds like a great idea.

What does it take to get a second page around here anyway? I figured this thread would be alive with comments. Does it have to deal with homosexuals or religion before it becomes worthy or something? I have noticed that these two subjects warrant 5 or 10 pages. Can you all not discuss important things too?

Perhaps, news is just to tragic to post now.

To be perfectly honest, if a thread desires to succeed, it must spark controversy. That's what all the popular threads do. They make you voice an opinion about an issue.

Or I"m talking out of my arse...
