Just spent 46 AP searching a police department. I'll try to level up
and stock up on some supplies, then I might head towards the middle and
see if I can slaughter some zombies.

I don't know if people are still playing, but I've been playing my 3 characters almost every day.
Progress is slow with my two zombie characters. The inability to
hunt down humans because of my lack of skills has made me resort to
zombie killing. It's slow going, with a level maybe ever four or
five days. So -- my ex-fireman now zombie is level 13, with 4
zombie skills. My pure zombie is only level 3 (but close to a
level, I should have it next turn).
My marine (still barricaded in Ackland Mall) is doing the best.
Firearms is definitely the way to go. I spend 2 or 3 turns
searching for ammo, and then 2 turns just unloading it all and leveling
often. Right now he's level 10 but I'm sitting on exactly 600
saved XP. When I die (which might be soon since I hear the RRF
hoard is coming to Ackland) I'm going to immediately buy 6 zombie
skills which should be enough to keep me happy until I'm revived.

Still playing, im in Lonely Row PD in East Becktown. Zombie hoards will
come clawing at the door soon, like so many flesh eating jehovahs
witnesses...

or an NT building. There are also known revive spots which you can find via the wiki.

I was just in Ackland Mall. I logged in to see that my corner had
been overrun (after about 4 days of fighting them in the other 3
corners). I had been bitten once and infected, but luckily found
a FAK on the first search. I contemplated letting them kill me
since I'm already level 10 and have 759 XP saved up. But I
decided I'd run and get some more ammo and go out in a blaze of
glory. Hopefully I can get to 900 XP before I die, so I can get
all the useful zombie skills immediately. I'm hiding to the south
of Ackland.
My other two characters are zombies right now, but don't have enough XP
to do anything really. So I've just been killing other zombies
until I hit level 6 -- at which point I'll go around knocking down
barricades and opening doors and checking what's inside.
This game is still pretty fun in my eyes. I have yet to kill a
human (harman) but... I will soon. I wan't to very badly.
It seems more meaningful than killing immortal zombies.

My character is now level 8. I can imagine that the game won't feel as
fun after buying all skills. I've still quite a few left to buy though.
I'm still close to the mall in Tollyton. Things are happening here,
zombies are attacking nearby hospitals and the mall. I'll save up 50 AP
and use them to kill some zombies.
