Not wanting to hijack Satchmo's thread, I've decided to create a thread to share some of my recent adventures during which I had my camera handy.

These photos are almost 1600x1200 (and are only half the size of the originals) and most are more than 500kb. So ... they are thumbnailed but they are definitely not 56k friendly. I could have made them much smaller, but a lot of the views would have been less stunning.

Anyone else who wants to share some recent photos are welcome to post them here.

These three shots are taken from the summit of a small hill known as Snake Mountain near the border between Vermont and New York state. It's a pleasant 45 minute hike up to the summit, and my friends and I did it recently in time to lay out a picnic and catch the sunset.

This is a shot of my college's chapel. This was taken during the first years' convocation ceremony, and I thought it looked nice. I like the inscription.

Of the pictures that loaded successfully, they look gorgeous. Many of the images did not load for me.

That's the benefit of living on the East Coast. It's green and there are actually seasonal changes.

Actually, Satch, it's just California. Oregon and Washington get plenty of different seasonal effects <img src=" SRC="images/smiles/icon_smile.gif"> With plenty of greenary.

Blame it on Microsoft, God does.

Yeah I dont know why the Bermuda and Mt. Abe photos are busted. Hopefully they'll sort themselves out.

I really like the picture of your road Nickelplate, but I wish it was a little more focused. Right now for its resolution it seems too blurry for my eyes to focus painlessly.

Okay rehosted the photos that were broken:

There's a great story behind this particular photo. Monday night two of my friends and I decided to hike up Mount Abe right after dinner, and camp out near the summit, then rise in time to catch the sunrise and hike down and be back before class Tuesday morning. We drove about an hour and a half and hiked about 8 miles total. I made it back in time for my 9:30 class... it was awesome. Unfortunately it was too misty to see the sunrise, but here's what it looked like anyway:

These shots were taken in Bermuda a month ago:

Well, it was a new technique i was trying at the time: you blur the photo after using a Sepia filter (i made my own) and then you reapply an un-blurred copy of the picture over top of it. it makes it darker with more contrast and a weird focus to it.

[EDIT]

I re-did it just for you, Morphine. I blurred it less in the initial steps.

Looks better, I think.

Nickeplate, that definitely looks better. The blurring and softness is subtle now, and it looks like an old photograph, not something thats been photo edited.

I don't like digital cams much, I'm much better with regular analog SLRs.

I absolutely love Central Park. I have this favorite memory of playing frisbee in the rain on one of the fields (sheep something) and it was just me and my friend. Everyone else was hiding from the rain. We were running around in a grass patch in the middle of this tremendous city.

It was a feeling akin to the openning scene in Vanilla Sky, but less creepy.

BlisTer, the first two pics look like scenes from Half-Life 2. <img src=" SRC="images/smiles/icon_smile.gif">

They're pretty cool pictures though.
