Hey guys,

I've loved Calvin and Hobbes ever since I was in the first grade. I think Bill Watterson is a creative genius and I'm sure there are those of you here that agree.

However, I didn't create this thread to simply praise Calvin and Hobbes. Once Watterson stopped writing I felt a small void, or a sadness knowing there would never be any new strips.

Recently I discovered an amazing artist that reminds me very much of Watterson's work, while at the same time having an original style, with original ideas, and amazing coloring.

Please -- take a minute to check out some of his work. His name is Kazu and his website is www.boltcity.com

The particular strip I like is called Copper.

Here are 3 of my favorite strips:

What do you think of his work?

Do you know of any other great comic artists? I mean -- truly great artists... ones you feel a connection to when you read their work.

Uh, Alex Ross, duh.

What's that other guy's name ... the guy doing UFF right now. He's good. The Kuberts are fantastic.

Then there's all sorts of Japanese artists that have distinct styles (Tezuka, Otomo, Toriyama all have distinct styles)

But, my favorite comic artist ever is Ross. Seriously, does it get better?

Looks like this throughout

There's a lot of really good artists out there.

Interesting approach to Superman. Seems older than I'd imagine but it works.

What medium does he use?

Also Crono, what did you think of those sequentials?

Watercolor. He went to the Chicago Art Institue, if you're wondering

He mostly does stuff for DC. Read Kingdom Come (which is in the future, thus the older look), Uncle Sam, Marvels (under Marvel), and he has a new series ... only issue 1 or 2 is out, it comes out every other month and there's going to be 12 issues.

Amamzing stuff really. You should check out his site, which has a lot of stuff he does normally, which is covers and stuff (Gotchaman box set art is his ... lots of books)

Those are nice. I like the crisp look. I just wish I couldn't tell it was done in painter. <img src=" SRC="images/smiles/icon_lol.gif">
His stuff reminds me of Psychonauts for some reason.

I wish I could remember that one artist's name though, his stuff is really good. Draws F*CKING bad ass zombies!
