What few people seem to realise is that even if youve had a professional test, from a professional psychologist, that lasted a whole day, it still doesnt mean s**t.

I have seen some people so smart that they are actually the dumbest people I have ever met. When you see someone on the side of the road with a flat and no knowledge of how it is fixed, thats....
Anyway, I have yet to see a test to measure IQ that covers all the bases necessary to distinguish exactly how smart someone is. First you have "Book Smarts". These are the people you see on the side of the road I mentioned. So smart they are, yeah right. Then you have "Practical Smart". These are the people whom the hard knocks of life have taught them everything. If there were a way to combine the 2 then you'd truly have an intelligent individual.

Thats because that has nothing to do with IQ.
IQ is (supposed to be) a measure of someones ability to solve problems. An IQ test generally involves solving puzzles within a certain timeframe, like jigsaws or flashcard memory type things. The puzzles themselves depend on the type of test (there are several). A score is determined based on your performance in these puzzles. The scores are normalised every few years, thousands of people around the world are tested and their scores recorded to maintain the mean IQ at 100.
Basically, if you chuck a Rubiks cube at someone with 100 and someone with 150, the 150 should theoretically solve it faster. Thats pretty much all it means.

Then basically the test is meaningless. If the test doesn't have the ability to measure true smarts its pointless. After all, a savant can solve problems and they are dumb as a doorknob.

You guys truly like doing this don't you? You must since ignoring the weird ones would basically render them moot but no, you gotta give them more air time than a Michael Jackson trial. ![]()
Don't worry HAL, they must like you.

I know i sure do.
Dunno what I'd do without good old Simon...
