Just about an hour ago, it came out.
I'm sensing this game to be fun to frag a bit of time, but nowhere near to purchasing it. So I'm just having warez <img src=" SRC="images/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif">
Anyway, it's quite a fun game in its concept. You drag around the "limbs" of the character to make it move, you use right mouse to make it hit something and that's basically it. I had my fun by setting 7 computer opponents, game speed to 0.25 and kicking to death <img src=" SRC="images/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif">

comments?

Yeah, it doesn't really sound like its worth the $14.95 they are asking...

And from the screenshots, the game looks ugly as heck.

Yeah, it really does, Satch. I'm still curious though, maybe if one of my friends' buys it then I'll try it, but I'm certainly not going to pay my parents hard earned money without knowing really what it is.

I thought it was just some mod a guy made, now they want everyone to pay for what would amount to 30 minutes of fun before it gets old. I pre-loaded it thinking that it must come included with the silver pack, unfortunately no such luck.

Ugly as hell? Personally I thought it looked cool, given what it is. You do realise its meant to look like puppets right? <img src=" SRC="images/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif"> Keep in mind this was being made as a side project by a guy who already works in the games industry. I haven't bought it any probably won't, but I say kudos to the developers for trying something different.

What people should also be aware of, is that Valve are pushing Steam as a viable distribution outlet for games by other developers. This is the first we have seen, but also due are games like the MMO "Pirates of the Burning Sea" and episodic FPS "Sin Episodes". Buying a Half-Life 2 package isn't free reign to everything coming out on Steam - we were told what we were receiving for our packages and we got them. Things like Rag Doll Kung Fu have nothing to do with our deals, so its expected that we have to pay for them. The $15 asking price, less if you preordered, is hardly outrageous anyway. I've paid ?40 for games that could be deemed equally trivial.

Nowadays, Half-Life 2 itself only costs about $16 in the U.S., and possibly even cheaper in other countries. Paying this much for a mod just isn't worth it.

Maybe if it's only $5 I would actually consider it.

If memory serves Rag Doll Kung Fu isn't a HL2 modification. One of valve's original intent for Steam was it would be able to distribute other games over the internet (eg: we could buy Quake 4: Multiplayer over steam in the future!!! - although not likely), and Kung Fu is merely the first game thats is being released over the steam network. But yes I agree, the game looks like s%&* and 12.50 just inst worth it, and IMO would be 5 dollars.

No, it is not HL2 mod. It is a completely stand-alone game.
As I said, though, it is fun if you want to spend some time, but for active playing - nah. I got the hang of kicking yesterday so I played with 7 computer players and beat 'em all <img src=" SRC="images/smiles/icon_lol.gif">

So it doesn't use the Source engine? I've always been under the impression that if it uses the unchanged source of the engine then its a mod.

No. It doesn't. It is written from scratch by that guy who created it...

Wierd, being a rag doll game I would have sworn it used Havoc engine and source.

This game still doesn't convince me. I'd like to see a (limited-time?) demo first, maybe that'll raise interest somewhat...

I would think not, considering you have to play it though steam.. and I am sure they have some sorta check and balance in there to keep that from happening.. Would hate to see your steam account get taken just because of a stupid game like this one.

They're charging 15USD for this dog? I can't believe how money-grabing valve have become.

They should have used this time to repair the damage their latest update has done to hammer. It's already become a cherished tradition: for every 1 thing an update fixes it screws-up 2 others. Given the fact that the mapping community is what kept half-life alive for almost 10 years, they SHOULD have found it their duty to fix hammer rather than try to squeeze-off more money. Stupid capitalists.
