I can't ascertain the update file size from Googling. When I got the update, Steam didn't show any file size. But to give you some idea, I have DSL, and it took me about thirty minutes to finish the update.

I believe it's about 300 MB, but I don't remember.
It's a lot to say the least.

So now the question is. I assume this is a Steam option you choose like installing a new game file?
OK, I will look for it. I only hope that Steam has a decent resume cause I cannot tie up my phone for a week solid.

I will have to update you guys when its completed but, upon firing up Steam and after its updates completed (almost 10 megs again
) I clicked on the link to begin the download. I was at 88% complete from the beginning so I am assuming it is borrowing components from elsewhere. At 89% it was approximately 10 megs already downloaded so I am assuming that I need an additional 110 megs yet.
54 minutes and 14 megs complete so far. Isn't 56k grand. " SRC="images/smiles/icon_smile.gif">

I thought it was me. I stared at what you wrote many times, but I couldn't figure out what you were trying to say.

5 hours 15 minutes 77 megs and 91%.
I'm in freaking trouble. ![]()
[edit]
6 hours? 86 megs and 92%
My freaking connection failed so I will be unsure exactly how big the total download will be in the end.
Screw it. I'll finish later.

I feel your pain buddy. Up until Thursday I was on 56k too (I had forgotten quite how painful it is after having used broadband for a few years.) Fortunately, BT finally got around to activating my 2mb broadband connection so I downloaded it on Friday in about 15 minutes.
Played through it all (twice, as others have done, without commentary then with.) Looks amazing - I especially liked the church part.
The HDR wasn't quite the "PC killer" it had been made out to be; I was able to run it with settings maxed out (apart from the AA being a few notches down from full) at a pretty rock solid framerate.

Its a portal to another dimension obviously... See if you can pry it open wide enough to get through with your crowbar.
