I need a book.

I recently watch "Biography" on TV. It was about Steven King. They went through his life and whatnot but what caught my attention was a book he wrote under another name. King said that it was the only book he was ever ashamed of writing, and/or releasing.

My post however deals with acquiring this book. Does anyone have a copy of "Rage" they would like to part with? Preferably someone in the states, but no source would be overlooked. I could google search it, and probably will have to eventually but I thought I'd give the fellas here first dibs.

I would like to say upfront. I am not particularly a King fan, I do like some of his works but definitely not a fan. I however am curious about this book because it has been banned in many areas due to its content and the perception that its inciting children to act out aggressively in schools around the world.

I want to read and judge whether its an over-reaction or if it has some merit for its ill begotten reputation.

Thanks for your time.

I've never read it. I don't even know that book. But one thing I would like to say: I can hardly imagine this book is bad. Being overrated is quite normal for Stephen King, I assume.
Therefore I would like to read this book. Sounds interesting.

If he thinks it's bad, then it's probably good, taking the fact that he has only written a handful of "good" novels.

I've been sloshing through "classic" and old stuff lately. Morphine suggested a book that I plan on immersing myself in.

I wish I could remember the fake name he used. Be that as it may, if you go to his website he lists it in his repertoire so it cannot be total tripe.

Its currently out of circulation and the two bookstores that I visited today say they cannot order it. I will check more stores but these two were semi-big time stores for this area.

I have actually read only two King books. I loved them both. Shining and Eye of the dragon. I have about a dozen audio books of his and found them to be good but would not have read them even after I listened. Somehow listening is different.

Anyway. I hope someone has read it and can clue me in a bit. That way I will know if I am wasting my time or not. Not that I think anyone would like it if I didn't but, well you know. <img src=" SRC="images/smiles/icon_smile.gif">

The only other name I know he used was Richard Bachman. He was a little weird about that one, though.

After reading that I think it may have been made into a film hasn't it?. The story does seem to ring a bell with a film I've seen but I dont think the fim was called Rage or Getting it on.

Thanks guys. What I am finding odd though is, even though only a few has replied, no one has apparently read, or even heard of this book. Maybe its very obscurity is saying something.

However that may be, I am still grateful for the replies. <img src=" SRC="images/smiles/icon_smile.gif">

Funny never entered my mind when I read it.

I just thought it was ironic because he wanted a "good book" and Romeo and Juliet is considered one of the most famous, and well written peices of literature ever. <img src=" SRC="images/smiles/icon_smile.gif">

Those are three titles of high quality and varied genre.

No offence guys, but we already have a thread for the very purpose of talking about books we have read/enjoyed, so there is little need to use this as another.

Oh really? Does it take you upward of 2 minutes to load that thread too?

I've read Rage, translated into swedish though. Can't remember the details but it was about a high-school student that one day brought a gun to school, killed two teachers and took his whole class hostage.

I wasn't questioning your starting of the thread underdog, but the sub-purpose of asking people what books they have read recently is EXACTLY the same purpose as our other thread. The time it takes for you to load it isn't really justification for abandoning it, or splitting it into two.

I thought you were talking to me personally since I began this thread.

Anyway, as to the topic at hand. I found the book. Of all places the Van Buren public library. Imagine my shock, small town USA has a banned book. The kicker is they weren't even aware. Oh well, perhaps I shouldn't have enlightened them.

Anyway again, you may lock this thread now if you have some concerns as to it stealing the wealth of thread #1.

On a serious note: I already posted in the site bugs thread about this but after a certain length, pages take eons to load. The longer the thread, the longer the load time. Perhaps its correctable, perhaps not but its an issue that needs addressed.

I do apologize for beginning a subplot duplication. Its not exactly unheard of around here though. There must be a half dozen polls with the same question asked.
