I have had thePryde.com for like 5 years now. And its time for renew. but I am not sure I want too. I may want to try a new name. here are a few options.

MuhnayShot.com ( My online ID )
JRMcDowell.com ( My name )
LANpartyUSA.org ( My business name. )

Or something different? What are your ideas?

I want it for a couple things, any game clans I may start, my sig art work, my resume, and my maps I make.. what do you all suggest?

Message submitted 13 minutes after original post:

If I go with MuhnayShot.com, I know I will get a ton of traffic.. lol

With my name.. I have my idenity to cover my passions?

With the Business name.. im sorta limited.

JRMcDowaell.com seems more impressive if you want a place to put resume's or showcase your work. Personally, that's what I would go with.

A word of advice: Don't get ANY domain name where you will have to SPECIFY to ppl how to spell a word. Make it as simple as possible without any gimmick spellings and without any complex words, such as "Christmas" or "Muhnay."

I though i was safe from lifenubs when i chose Nickel+plate as my online ID. Everyone knows how to spell Nickel and PLATE. all they have to do is put the words together. 90% of everyone who types it in cannot spell "Nickel" they always spell it "Nickle," which is very effective at NOT getting the emails to me.

Still when i chose my domain name DIMEBOWL.com. I figured, "EVERYONE knows .com, everone know's "dime" and everyone knows "bowl". After all, every 10-cent piece they've ever handled has the word DIME on it and BOWL is 4 frickin letters. Yet ppl insist on asking me how I spell my domain name.

I can only imagine how crazy I'd be right now If I had chosen something like www.t3hw3bs1t3.com or soemthing that you'd have to specify each time. take it from me, moneyshot... spel everything in a standard way and make it as short as possible! for your sanity's sake...

How else would you spell Christmas? crismiss? Yes, I think I shall get the domain crismiss.com, and see how much traffic THAT site gets.

mine felt like a .net , so here's mine

www.arclan.net

*caution , its a bit heavy on the stuff* <-- Needs a dialup friendly version of the site

I'll be intersted in learning quite a bit about webhosting from this thread, assuming that it's still alive.

LOL, since when is "christmas" a complex word

Often times children these days when reading aloud in class will stop when they come upon any work linger than about 7 letters so the teacher will read it for them. It's really this way... I work at a school and I see it a lot.

shotmoney.com is available
as is JRmoneyshot.com

themoneyshot.com is for sale..

I mean, just imagine trying to explain "muhnayshot.com" to some Indian Tech support guy or something like that.

Here is the stigma of a good word getting pinned to the porn biz.

Back in the early days of Photo-Press when news papers didnt hire photogophers, they used free lancers.. And a Picture sold to the press was known as the MoneyShot... because it was a pic you would get paid for. Then somehow the porn peeps grabbed it and it became a dirty word.

Then later on when gaming came along on-line, and you were a very good shot, or culd pace a shot on the money, the term was snagged once more to be used to express your skill as a FPS player.

there hows that Mr indian tech dude. =)

but I think I may try a couple other ideas.. I was also excepting any suggestions you all felt fit me.

That's all very nice and good, but I was talking about trying to get them to SPELL it correctly. When handling tech support calls at work, I have to spell and respell names and addresses and stuff about 67 times like this:

  • N as in Nancy
  • I as in Iris
  • C as in Charlie
  • K as in Kangaroo
  • E as in Echo
  • L as in Lima
  • P as in Peter
  • L as in Lima
  • A as in Alpha
  • T as in Tango
  • E as in Echo
  • @ that's the AT sign
  • hotmail.com

Unfortunately I have to spell hotmail too. Lest they think it's "hawtmale" or soe crap...
