Haha, yeah, you have to have a basic understanding of a UNIX system
But trust me - if you get to a such of a system, try out one of those fun commands and you'll ensure the administrator a few sleepless nights

I'm no Unix user so I only understand some of them, but it sounds like I shouldn't take you as a Unix teacher if I want to keep my system up and running...

I think not.
It's not funny if they're not real commands, Nickel.
See, it'd be all fun and games until they checked the log and found out you're responsable. (If they were even stupid enough to give you those kind of rights.)
So, the only realistic way you could do those is log in as root ... in which case you're your own system administrator ... in which case you're being a dick to yourself.

Blame it on Microsoft, God does.

Yeah, I took a UNIX course last year. Most of those seem valid. I know
my way around BASH fairly well. We were forced to use command line
only, I also successfully crashed the command line, vi as well as uh,
XWindows or whatever it was (Maybe I'm thinking of KDE). I had more
funky stuff happen with vi than DOS' edit. Them's good times.

Well those are from a Linux Administrator student...
I'm taking a Linux Administrator course in IT College... however the mail server thing is what i hate... we spent 2x1hr 45 mins for this...
Anyway, Gorbachev you prolly mean X Window System... KDE is just an environment for this, as well as is gnome, IceWM or BlackBox for instance.
and can you give me the way you successfully crashed cmd line?
" SRC="images/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif">
Btw, have you ever gotten a Kernel Panic?

Yeah, I made the kernel panic, it fsckin' popped. Popped Corn all over
the place. It was actually the result after I messed up KDE, the next
time I booted it had a harsh panic. I, of course was laughing my head
off.
Yeah, I'm not super familiar with the GUIs since I don't use them, I know OF a few including KDE and Gnome, but otherwise they're just one of those things I don't use.
Don't remember how I crashed the command line, but it was pretty harsh, I got vi to do some fun stuff like paste either 800 or 8000 lines instead of overwriting 2. And I also got the command line to not show what you've typed. It knew and you could do commands, but none of the inputted text would show up.
