I think the world record for the fastest rubix cube was 23 seconds, better get working on it =P.
Also that its been matehmatically calculated that you can solve the cube from a maximum of 6 (13 maybe?) moves from any position. Just some food for thought.

Rubiks Cube is a disease ravaging my friends, to the point that they
subconsciously carry one everywhere and solve it. One of them is
supposedly the 3rd fastest woman in the world, with a two-handed 3x3
solve time of 30 something, which is pretty good.

It's possible to do it one handed!?
I used to be able to solve a 3x3. But alas, I forgot. My best time was 57 seconds, no record, but still damn fast. The fastest for the 3x3 is like 23 or something.

I havent toutched a rubics cube since the late 80's and I found a really easy way to solve it.
I peeled the stickers off and then stuck the back down so each side was full of one colour.

fatstrings, did you figure it out on your own or look stuff up
online? If you did it on your own I'm really really impressed. But either way, congratulations!
Someone showed me how to solve the 3x3, and I really don't know if I could have figured it out on my own. I don't think I could.

That movie boosted my confidence too, at least I didn't go down that
route of nerdness. I'm headed down the route of that creepy IT guy that
you're afraid to talk to because he's always scowling and whenever you
say something to him he grins, responds with some cryptic statement
that seems completely irrelevant and then starts laughing like its an
inside joke that only he understands.

Craziest rubics cube solving video that aI ever saw was when a guy studied it for a minute, and solved it blind-folded.

The craziest one I ever saw was some guy put on some swim goggles,
filled up the tub, and solved 3 cubes under water before he came up for
air. He held his breath for a long time, but it was still pretty
crazy. Talk about tension on those last few moves.
