I bought it, and I think it's okay, but (apart from the spinky graphics) it doesn't add anything really new to the AOE-experience. Sure, you've got that home city, but all you can do is use some special cards to send you stuff.

Any thoughts ?

Also, If you don't have a veeeeeeeeery good graphic card, don't expect the game to look like the screenshots. I have a Radeon 9600 Pro, I can play with shaders on high (nice water), but it's the shadows that really kill it. I have to play on low setting now, and shadows are just a blob under units.

I always liked AOE best out of all the RTS games out there. I have not bought III yet, but i may some day. Looks sweet though~!


I tried sniffing coke, but the ice cubes kept getting stuck in my nose.

Yeh, but looks aren't everything. You really need a serious beast machine to make it look absolutely gorgeous. Sure, it looks way better than AoM, that's a fact. More polygons for the models, woojay.

I think the most impressive part are the sea battles. Every ship breaks apart relevant to where it's been hit, and it looks very spectacular with all those cannon balls flying around. Also, buildings start to burn and collapse very naturally to where you hit them. Thank you Havok Physics engine.

I hate the fact that the Dutch have to buy there peasants with gold instead of food...where not greedy!
