'Twas on this day in 1980 that John Lennon was assasinated outside of his apartment. To me, this is way more important than Pearl Harbor. My school had a moment of silent reflection for him, nothing about Pearl Harbor. Plus it's Jim Morrison's birthday.

Yeah, I agree with French. I can't really say how Pearl Harbor's affected me directly , but yeah, definitely sad about Mr. Lennon.

One day you'll know what you're talking about, I can hardly imagine

and yes, i was a john lennon fan, but dont even overstate his importance sir....genius musician maybe, and his heart was in the right place....but the majority of his influence was to kick the drug counterculture in the US in the ass...legitimizing them. great contribution....

Anyhoo, what's with this Brasso clone?

The whole point of this was that I'd rather remember John Lennon, the Beatles and Jim Morrisson over a war.

Sadly, I am beginning to see definite boundaries here. Has it been that long? Can none of the present generation be thankful for ought more than waking up when they feel like it?

I understand being against war in some ways, but cannot fathom people who deny those who thought differently and actually DIED for it their honors and dues.

Sadly, we do not have any Japanese here to even have a REAL discussion over whether it made a difference in dropping those bombs or not. I doubt anyone here could even switch mindsets with a traditional Japanese in such a way as to die willingly as they do for their GOD, which in every way is how they view their Emperor.

Honestly, how can any of you condemn an act when you admit that the very act had no influences upon your present lives? I know that the act DID have an impact but the fact that you do not see it really removes you from having an educated opinion at all.

Course I figure some smart ass is going to inform me how mistaken I am but I feel that if you are allowed to make a false comment such as that then so am I. Being foolish is not only a prerogative of the young!!!

I have to say this in as stern a way as possible. "IF YOU CANNOT SEE HOW PAST WARS CHANGED YOUR LIVES TODAY, KEEP YOUR OPINIONS TO YOURSELVES ABOUT THE DEAD WHO GAVE SO MUCH FOR YOUR RIGHT TO NOT KNOW"

It could be worse people, we could be a society that would not even grant you the right to forget!!!

UD, quite sadly, the boundaries, as you say, have become quite clear actually, and they are partially responsible for the state of discussion on these threads, let alone the country.....on multiple levels, you will see it, smell it, and on occasion, actually feel it.....sad.

toasty, i have found you to be a fairly intelligent, and entertaining kid, but, you have no real perception of the magnitude of the events......learn yer history man, and have a real discussion.....we used to have some dandies 'round here..... <img src=" SRC="images/smiles/icon_wink.gif">

Doc, if you are going to answer a quote by being inside the quote try to make it a different color cause its hard to separate your words from theirs.

No offense, but I had to back up and read the originals.

I was under the impression that fishy was being sarcastic.

Perhaps, but how does that alter the meaning of the statement? What exactly is sarcasm but a way to say whats on your mind without actually committing to it in any permanent way.

I would be sarcastic to if someone told me that they would rather remember a junkie than a hero. Assuming of course that we are talking about junkies and hero's.

I would rather just talk about hero's myself, but hey, thats just me.

[EDIT] I just realized that I am breaking my own rule here. This thread was about rock stars not wars. I apologize and will hereafter take my thoughts to my own thread.

Sorry guys.

Doc, you have a habit of allowing your pantie tensile strength to effect the blood flow to your head. Calm down before you have an aneurysm. <img src=" SRC="images/smiles/icon_lol.gif">

No one said grammar, at least I don't think they did. I did however point out that your white text that is inside the quote is indistinguishable from the original post/reply.

Make it some other shade.
