you hold [alt] than press any random set of number pad keys than let go of [alt]. Its a bit tricky to do.

For example:

>>> ? is 225

>>> ? is 488

>>> ▲ 5 is 30

Oh and I think you have to have numlock enabled

I can speak as much as they can teach in half a year, so just basic conversational stuff. Its already useful though, theres enough chinese speakers doing engineering here that I can get as much practice as I need. Very interesting to learn.

Can you speak much Japanese? If you read what you posted as Kanji, does it mean the same as it would in Chinese? "Eight of...", doenst translate into english well but it should be followed by "people" or something.

I speak enough to get by but not enough to have a decent conversation. I especially lack in the speaking skills department because there aren't any japanese here at all.

I'm not sure what reading that compound would have. Maybe yakou or something , which doesn't make any sense.
When taken separately they do mean 8 (hachi) and mouth (kuchi) (but not 8 mouths) though. I'm not even sure how you say 8 mouths (what counter to use, or if a counter for... erm holes even exists etc).

Well, the second character does mean "mouth", but as far as I know its generally used as a smaller part of more complex characters. It's a measure word (counter?) for people in a family.

Just found out I only got 96% on my last course (7.5 ECTS points). Altough that's good enough for an A I really aimed for 100% on this one, and I felt like I made it.... oh wellz.

And, I just rediscovered how freaking amazing Google Earth is. It's mindblowing to look at all the small 3d buildings in big cities like Tokyo and New York.

Speaking of Google, if you go to http://www.google.com/ig you can log in using your gmail account, then customize you own start page. I discovered a couple of days ago that you now can set you own theme for this page, and this theme will change style depending on the time of the day at your location. So during the day there will for example be a sun in the theme, and during the night there will be a moon instead, and the colors will change to darker ones, etc. Simple but awesome. <img src=" SRC="images/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif">

Performance is a tadbit below Windows (I have an Ati card, and Ati driver support for linux is ... dissapointing. It'll get better someday ...)

Theres an easter egg included in most/all of the themes too, at a certain time of the night, the theme will have something different happening to the norm, cant remember the exact time but I think its somewhere near 3am.
