Been looking for a prog like that for ages. The PS plugin doesn't work for me (or at least didn't the one time I tried).
PS: Japanese FPS comedy
They're always ahead.

Thanks for the Crazybump referral, Riven. Now I can have HL1 textures in HL2 and have them looking at least half decent.

Why would you want hl1 textures in hl2 :S ?

Because the textures in HL2 are unversatile and they suck

Not that I wouldn't agree with the unversatile part, but they'll stand out horribly from the other, sharper textures. :/

Not if you don't use the HL2 materials (except for rt and water textures). In theory, it will look like HL1 but with physics, normal mapping, render targets etc.

They did that with HL1:S and it looks horrible. (I still wish someone would give that a game a face lift)
Blame it on Microsoft, God does.

How does Black Mesa: Source compare with Half-Life: Source?

Black Mesa (they had to take source off the name) has nothing to do with Half-Life: Source.
I think they're just using base HL2 stuff and creating everything else themselves (to above HL2 quality from the look of the screenshots)
However, I can't say for certain because the thing isn't out.
You can see for yourself here. (It looks like the reference shots are from HL1:S too)
Hmm, I didn't know they were re-doing the multiplayer as well.

Man, I started watching The Office (UK) and Extras... I have completely fallen in love with Ricky Gervais.

Two parts awesome.
Awesome Part 1
Awesome Part 2
Even more awesome:
Monty Oum is an animator that puts up self-made movies on GameTrailers.com. If you haven't seen his work, I strongly suggest checking it out.
His latest seems to be the start of a short series and it's pretty awesome.
Check it out
Make sure you look around and check out his older stuff too, as it's all awesome.

Something graphics companies just seem to not be able to do well is write drivers. It doesn't make any sense.

Well, UT3 runs relatively fine on medium settings on 1024x768. I don't see how Bioshock couldn't handle my Radeon 9800 with similar settings? Screw 2k.

You know, there's been accusations that Epic withheld vital pieces and tools of the Unreal Engine 3 to other developers.
I was able to run the thing with absolutely no lag with everything I could turn up, up. It still didn't look like the screenshots though.
It could always be showing dynamic options.
It seems developers like Epic and Infinity Ward are the only ones doing optimizations on their engines.

I had some decent fun with ut3, unfortunately i can't run it in 1680x1050, but I tend to run most I games windowed anyway so it wasn't that big of a letdown, the only problem I encountered was that every server had a ping of +100, and I was disconnected a couple of times, so I'm mostly playing just singleplayer.
I don't like the design of the new link gun, they should've sticked with the old, no doubt it looks great, but it doesn't have that link gun feel.
Oh yea the enforcer is back, going akimbo is awesome, but not very effective

It seems a lot of FPS multiplayer games lately just don't make it even possible to go commando, in any way; if you encounter a vehicle ... forget it, you're done.
I couldn't find the key bindings in the menu ... it's fine if I can't change them for the sake of the demo ... but I'd like to know what buttons do what.
The only other negative thing I can think of is several times, I was being shot and I just couldn't find out who was shooting me. It seems to be a combination of the environments (which are huge and multi-tiered) and the inability to get shot more than a few times (it's like three or four).

It seems their main focus was to make the game console friendly. The menus and options system makes no use of mouse and keyboard specific features or any advanced hardware options. Maybe it's the most polished FPS engine on the planet - but here's a lot of FX but little style. Everything's brown and grey with too much contrast noise in the background and an aimless mix of cyberpunk/steampunk and... sci-fi samurai themes?!? Lighting is bland and uninspired. Vehicles, just like in the previous parts, just let you move faster at the disadvantage of being stuck in a huge box of metal.
The best thing about it is the oldschool weaponry (sniper rifle, enforcers). In other words, the best part is what they copied from UT1.
A game made in hope of getting a lot of engine licenses. A money machine. No soul.
