Not much more to say. This is the list as seen on HalfLife2.net;

New SDK Features
  • High Dynamic Range lighting now supported in the tools
  • Day of Defeat: Source support now included
New Hammer Editor Features
  • VGUI Model browser with real-time 3D view
  • Map autosave/backup
  • Model and displacement rendering in 2D views
  • Many other small improvements and bug fixes
Restart Steam and make some DoD maps!

So does this mean the beta has been fixed up and made official?

tbh MS, the implementation of this new model viewer is making me seriously consider throwing in the towel. i just can't be arsed having to search through lists of text to find models.

I know the new model viewer is a hell of a pain, and luckly in the Beta SDK you had an option to switch back to the old, hopefully the option is there in the New SDK, haven`t had time to check...BTW downloading Militia for Source can`t wait to check it out!

after i ranted a little in the email newsletter thingy, someone mentioned that they thought the new viewer could be turned off in hammers options. they were right.

ah,

isn't that ^^ so much better to choose from, than a crappy list of model names?

Does everyone still have blurry in-editor icons such as cubemaps etc..Just though it would be fixed with the release of the new SDK, also I noticed a significant drop in framerate when playin source (Good FPS, but high m/s under budget reading) heard it might have somfin to do with the Specularity update

MS, Tools>Options>General tab, undo the checkbox for 'use vgui model browser', and it'll revert back to the old.

though if you're mapping for dod:s, you won't have any pictures. i used my first day with dod by loading up each model in the viewer, to get aquainted with them, and taking the pics as i went along. i don't mind uploading the pics if anyone here would prefer using them, but if so, i'll wait until after they release kalt (this week) because it'll probably have a few extra models with it.

I had to disable the vgui browser since it didnt work at all. I just got an empty window with a coloured rectangle in the corner.

Other features are nice though, model/displacement previews in the 2d views in particular.

Does anyone still have blurry in-editor icons such as cubemaps or any point_entity with an icon for that matter, they look really bad in the editor and I cant even make out the text on the bottem of the entities in the 3D Viewport. It really pisses me off... If anyone knows how to get the Crisp looking icons of the old back it would be greatly appriciatted
