I was recently quoted as stating that my graphics card was taking a dump because of graphics fragmenting, glitches, and then out right freezing with looping sounds, while playing HL2DM, requiring a hard re-boot.Well I took my computer apart,... really apart...(including my CPU, which I cleaned and added new heat reduction gel to) and blew out everything with high air pressure(Not the cans but an actual air compressor), I even removed the cowling from my GEForce 6800 and blew it out too, and now everything seems to be running fine.

Let this be a lesson to those of you whose symptoms seem to be heat related. Dust and dirt do definitely have an adverse effect on computer performance.

I had a similar problem with my 6800. Only it required a restart when i played Battle Field 2, and I only blew out the case with compressed air, I didn't take everythign apart.

Before I got my laptop I used to go and clean everything out once every 2 months or so, and it really helped. My brother once went in his case and his CPU heat sink was a chunk of dust.

Isn't it absolutely amazing how much foreign matter winds up inside the cabinet?

I swear that my wifes computer had enough dirt in it to plant a flower in AND have it survive.

The best things in life, aren't things.
