I just read that steam friends is now in a public beta, to experience it type this command line:
steam.exe -clientbeta steam3friends -beta steam3friends

beta SDK was cool.
why dont you guys ever point out all the stuff that works with steam? I'd say 1 out or 10 things mess up with steam, which isn't bad in my book.

Yeah, steam stuff usually works for the mostpart, but beta functions
are at this point on a bad track record. but that should be expected.
afterall, beta = not completed.

If there WAS anything, we'd point it.

I'm with Glass. You're always (not just you, Nickel) naysaying to VALVe and Steam, but fail to realize how good it is. It's a brilliant system, no matter how much the Friends Network doesn't work. Everyone is now kept up to date, nobody's cheating, everything's right there in one window, updates auto-download. It's a great system, get over yourself.

it's the same principal as that of "Who moved my cheese?" things changed when WON died and Steam was born, and people don't like it. The rocky start for steam didn't help things either. and then of course it comes down to wether or not people like it, for whatever reasons they have, founded or unfounded.

There was a thread a long time ago where everyone shared their steam
IDs, maybe a moderator would liek to resurect it so we can all find
each other out on the steam network.

Better get used to it, some other companies are looking at this Steam network thing and are thinking of going that rout.
I have xfire too.. but sometimes its just easier to use the built in tools.
Oh and there are still cheaters.. hackers if you will in CS.. there will always be some scripter or someone that takes an unfair advantage. but Valve has been pretty good about securing their game service from these jackasses.
