And this article from Gamasutra pegs the current expected release date at the end of 2006, although that's been done before.

Duke fans, take heart, all is not lost yet!

They've been raping the gaming world with this game for almost 10 frigging years! I would have been better-off knowing it dead.

I refer to this game by its acronym usually. DNF - Did Not Finish.

Interesting to see its finally coming out, not that I've been looking forward to it. Its been in production so long, the engine is probably pretty outdated by now (thats not a bad thing, could well make the game more popular due to it running on low-spec machines).

It won't beat the original Duke Nukum from 15 years ago. I want my Jump Boots and Grappling Hooks and Nuclear Pistols!

I always thought Duke Nukem Forever was just quietly scrapped. But now it hasn't been released for so long ad everyone has forgotten about it, I wonder if it will just bomb out and barely sell many copies. The graphics now look very outdated compared to other 2006 releases, and in a post Doom 3, Half Life 2, Fear, Quake 4, world the graphics sure aren't going to impress at all.

Ya'll are a bit late with the news. Back when PCGamer got a development preview of 3d Realms new game "Prey", 3D Realms also announced that Duke 4Ever was due to be released late 2006 in time for Duke 3Ds 10 year aniversery.

The issue it was featured in actually came out half a year ago.

Oh and yeah, I've seen the trailors too. There's a trailor bundled with Duke Manhaton Project. Of coarse that was for the 2001 release tht never happened. Graphics should be much better now. Basically, Duke 4Ever is going to sell big simply because it's taken so long to come out.

You know, I've actually got nothing to say

I still have hopes. The Idea of ripping off heads, and s**tting down necks of aliens using the Unreal engine is coolness. <img src=" SRC="images/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif">

The only reason, in my mind, that the Duke series ever did well was because they traded on pixelized titties.
