NETELLER provides an online funds transfer service. I'm about to register an account with them as many poker and casino sites use their service, which would make transfers to and from these sites easier and quicker.

Has anyone heard of this company, used their services, or have anything else to say about them?

I started to register an account, however I couldn't finish as I needed to provide my passport number but didn't have a valid one at that time. Today I received my new passport and went to finish my registration. Then, after finishing, an error message appeared saying the following:

? quote:
An error has been encountered

The account you are trying to log into has been closed due to automated features we have in place which close accounts based on certain criteria.

Please contact the NETELLER Security Department at 00.800.7767.6343 (press option 0 and then option 2) or you can email us at admin@neteller.com.

We apologize for any inconvenience.

I emailed them and said what had happened. They replied quickly and said that they needed me to confirm the following information:

Full name
Date of birth (dd/mm/yyyy)
Home telephone numbers (NOT a mobile number)
Full home postal address (including postcode)

They also said I needed to fax or e-mail a copy of my passport/driving licence and a copy of an utility bill.

Are there any risks when e-mailing this kind of information? I'm especially concerned about e-mailing a scanned image of my passport.

Please, tell me what you think. <img src=" SRC="images/smiles/icon_smile.gif">

Here's what I think. Why would you gamble in online casinos? I think that's just ridiculous. The online games are not based on REAL chance: they are based on random number generators that can be tampered with.

There's a discussion about them over at mapcore at the minute, and apparently everybody there who uses them has made money. This was just about poker however, not online casinos, so seeing as it is played against real people and is based on skill as much as luck, there is potential there to make consistant money.

Actually, I'm most likely not going play at any online casino sites (again). As the casino does have an edge over you that you can't overcome (unless you count cards playing blackjack or something, which can't be done at online casinos). I'll use the NETELLER account at pokersites though, as you CAN play better than you opponents when it comes to poker and thus make money.

Just mentioned that many casino sites use NETELLERS services.

[edit]

ReNo, could you post a link to the thread at mapcore please?

Reno if you were ever on the mapcore IRC channel for a duration long enough, you'd actually know that people on mapcore have addictions to poker and many have lost hundreds of dollars :P Mapcore people also write in the forums very different things to what they talk about- they are a crazy bunch. Nothing to do with mapping mind you despite the name <img src=" SRC="images/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif">

Btw that Netella sounds like Nutella

If you're worried about people stealing your private info, just use winzip to either encrypt the information, or split it into a few files. Send each peice in a different email, and it will be almost impossible to find both peices and steal your stuff...unless you're the desired reciepient

I posted a question about it over at a poker forum:
Linky

Seems to be a big and well established company, secure and so on.
