Gypsies come from the lost kingdom of Atlantis, after having arrived there from Troy by floating across the sea on the Trojan horse. After stealing everything that wasn't bolted to the ground, they migrated to europe with the aid of secret nazi flying saucers, but were captured by the soviets and were dumped into the volcanoes around London, thus releasing their souls, who were unfortunately captured by alien starships (that look like Boeing 707s with rocket engines), which originated from the Zeta Reticuli starsystem.

You know, some people actually believe some of the bulls**t I presented in my theory. The church of Scientology (repeat the name a couple of times until the implications of having a "church" of "science" settle in) actually believe that the ruler of some foreign galaxy had the members of another intelligent race all put aboard starships which resembled (human passenger) planes with rocket engines

? quote:
The Douglas DC-8, said to be an exact copy of Xenu's [evil space ruler] spaceships, seats a maximum of 250 people and has a payload of only around 40?50,000 kg, depending on the specific model.

and had them dumped into the volcanoes in Hawaii (according to one version of the story; a different version states that they we're blown-up by hydrogen bombs), and then ordered that their souls be sucked up by special ships. But some of the souls escaped and inhabited the existing creatures on earth. I'm not kidding here, they really believe this stuff.
The founder of this religion is L. Ron Hubbard, a SF novel writer, of all things. And a very poor one, judging by the premise of his "religion".

ok here are a few.

A.) If the big bang theory is correct, what started the reaction and what came before the big bang?

B.) how does "The Void" work in HL2? how can a game create infinit space? Could you really no-clip into the void and go on forever?

? quote:
Can the airwaves get TOO FULL of all the information we send through them with our cell phones and WiFi and all of our radios and stuff? What happens when it does? does the sky start falling?

This is dependant on the radio equipment used. The frequencies attainable are infinite, however, because of various tolerances and variations in equipment there is a finite set of possible frequencies that can be sent and received successfully. As manufacturing techniques improve, the set can possible become larger, but never infinite. Using multiplexing, it is possible to have multiple signals transmitted on the same frequency, which helps.

? quote:
what's the difference between CAT5 and CAT5e cable?

Cat5e is an improved version of Cat5, which allows higher transfer speeds and longer cable lengths. Most Cat5 cables sold today are Cat5e.

Thats the big question.

? quote:

The game does not actually create an infinite space. The map is, at its simplest, a collection of vectors. What the player sees is calculated from more vectors describing where the player is and what the player is seeing. When you see the void, it just means you cant see anything at that point. If you noclip outside the map, you could keep going until your vector became too large for the game engine to handle, causing an overflow. When this happens, the game could clip your movement so you cant move far enough to cause an overflow, it could wrap the coordinate values so you appear on the other side of the map, or it could just overflow and crash.

I had that post waiting for most of today... hope we dont exceed daily bandwidth again anytime soon.

? quoting Baron von Snickers
Can animals like dogs and cats "see" what's on a television when they look at it? Or is their brain and sense of sight so different that they can't make sense of it?

related: self-consciousness. to illustrate: when babies look in a mirror they see a playmate. it's only when they grow older that they know it's themselves. you can test this by drawing a dot on their forehead.

my question: what makes people, dolphins and monkeys have self-consciousness, whereas other animals do not? it's not the size of the brain (e.g. elephants vs dolphins, ...) so what is it?

My Questions:

  1. Where did the Cedars of Lebanon go?

A lot of them were cut down to build boats, since the Phoenicians (our ancestors) were among the best sailors of the Mediterranean sea. But we still have some cedar forests in Tannourine, Arz, and Barouk mountains. <img src=" SRC="images/smiles/icon_smile.gif"> Good to know that there's someone (other than) me interested in the fate of our national symbol!

My question: Do maple trees grow in a mediterranean climate?

Physically, it has something to do with the amount of wrinkles on the cranium
Evolutionarily, monkeys and dolphins need social behavior(parts of "self-conciousness") for their closely-knitted social groups, which help them survive in the wild.

I haven't taken psych. yet, so I'm just speculating. ::o:

A.) If the big bang theory is correct, what started the reaction and what came before the big bang?

As for what came before, it can be explained this way. Without sentient beings and life, all things technically last forever since matter and energy cannot be created nor destroyed. Before life existed, there was no beginning OR end to anything, and thus no way to measure time, thus no time.

As for what caused the Big Bang? Answer: God.

? quoting DrGlass

I've noclipped in games for a LONG time. they crash. in some games you start back in the other side and go zooming through the level again.

? quoting Kain
Do maple trees grow in a mediterranean climate?

Yes, maple trees can grow just about anywhere that oak trees can grow. Maple trees need a fair amount of water and can deal with very high and very low temperatures. So go ahead and grow some maples, make some syrup. I will send you some maple seedlings if you send me some cedars from lebanon.

No one really knows what gives us our sense of self. It is one of the greatest questions for mankind and has been left unanswered by every philosopher in history. Although Fishy's avatar is funny, it does have some quotes from some philosophers trying to answer these questions.
We have a sense of self, because somehow we know that we exist, we know that we ARE. But, what is it to BE?

my next question: What is it that makes us BE? or what is it to BE? If we ceased to know that we existed, would we cease to exist? Socrates said "I think therefore i AM."

Oh, and Carmen Sandiego was on "a big old junk in china" according to the song. Apparently, she was kinda slutty.

You ask two distinct questions in one sentence my Missouri friend. As for the first part, I am not gifted enough in the human speech mannerisms to clearly define the answer so I will skip to part 2.

If you do not know you exist you can still be. There are many autistic, and the severely autistic who have no clues about anything and they be, just fine. As far as I know, none have ceased to be, just because they are unaware of their existence.

Philosophically speaking, I think you are asking rhetorical semi-inquiries.

You are askin un-questions.

Most consider me to BE an asshole. Those that know me, know that I woefully inadequate to the task.

I think you need to define what you mean by "Be"

I be dumbfounded, so far.

No, I'm asking a question that you have to THINK about. I'm not a standardised test, so i'm not gonna mek it easy for retards. lol. It is a philosophy question, there is no right answer. When i say "what is it to be?" i mean, "How does one be?" and it's YOUR own philosophy that you wil answer with. Like Aristotle said that "the ability to think makes me be." and Nietzsche says "to do is to be" by doing things, he exists. what's your take on the whole thing?

What if for the moment, you needed to make it simple, for this retard?

Actually, Rene Descartes said this. He was a philosopher of the period of Enlightenment in 17th/18th century Europe. It's basically a summary of the ideas of the time - people were applying rational thought and "laws" to how the world works, and this statement is saying "because I think, I am giving reasonable explanation for my existence".

So nyah :P

Don't hand me that. Blame shifting isn't a new concept and you aren't particularly good at it anyway. <img src=" SRC="images/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif">

You said specifically that you wouldn't make it simple enough for a retard. If I am confused, ergo, retarded enough, then you won't be able to make me understand.

To be is the ability to acknowledge one's own existence.
Since I cannot fully acknowledge anyone else's existence, I therefore have no proof that they exist. The only one I can fully acknowledge is myself, so I therefore know that I exist.

Oh, and BTW, I just made a new tutorial, can you auth it for me, Gwil?
