Hammer's 4 window view not working

Im a total newbie at mapping and i was looking at tutorials and the peoples screenshots showed four windows in hammer the camera, top, front and side mine only had one view (the front) . I have tried ctrl + A also refreshing the SDK also pressing shift + Z before Ctrl +A and going the long way; view >> Autosize 4 views. I have posted in different forums being told to come here as you are the "mapping Gods" which i hope is true. Any ideas how i can get the four windows up without reinstalling steam?

Hey mate, welcome to the snarkpit. For future reference, keep your editing questions in the editing forums please, but with that said, on with sorting your problem...

Go to tools->options->general, and uncheck the "use independant window configurations" checkbox. Now close your map, and reopen it, and you should have the window split into 4 panels as you see in the screenshots.

ReNo beat me to the punch, but a quick google of the problem gave me a bunch of results. Next time you have a problem don't be afraid to google it.

Thanks mate im so pleased it is fixed also thanks for the welcome sorry about putting it in the wrong place just trying to get used to the sites layout. My mapping can improve now thanks <img src=" SRC="images/smiles/icon_smile.gif">smileysmiley

No, I would be the first to admit. In fact, I have been a shining star in the world of promoting new mappers to the great beyond. I am however becoming increasingly discouraged for the lack of initiative around here.

When was the last time I didn't have to badger people to participate in something that used to be normal activity? I ask myself daily.

When the answer becomes to much for me to deal with, I leave and go on a hiatus again.

My depression for the decline of HL is... Mounting.

Anyway... I am here today so, lets have some fun.

We need to lead by example. I'm working on my undead arena right now. Why not try your hand at whipping up a HL2:SP arena map too?

There's far too little mapping going on around here these days.

I'd rather lead from behind thankyou. I feel that my contributions in the area of critiquing is more valuable to newer mappers than my limited ability to map.

Ability=shortness of time and knowledge both.

I have no real interest in creating anything new except a new mapper. They are the future around here.. Not me.

I was thinking to myself "If he is under the impression that all his future troubles will be that easily resolved"
