Scientologists
i ran into an old old friend recently, so a certain thing that pisses me off is still fresh in the mind. it's actually a story (very much a sob story), so if you don't feel like readin it, here's the gist: people like stadric tick me off.
i moved to glendale, CA when i was 14.. new community, new school, new everything. upon walking into the counseling office of my new school on my first day, i found someone else starting her first day as well. stephanie. contrary to how it normally goes with me and other people, we totally clicked. we had 3 classes together and hung out at snack/lunch etc.. so when her parents began working after school, she needed somewhere to go where there would be a parent. she immediately suggested my house.
for months she walked home with me after school, waiting for her parents to pick her up. we were best friends.. well i thought we were. apparently she thought we were more.. but i digress. we often went out to see PG movies and eat panda express at the local mall.. and sometime in the arrangements between rides, my father and her father had a longer talk than usual. he learned some things about her father. stephanie's family was scientologist.. mine was christian. actually it was more like my father was going through a "repent or burn" phase, and saw it necessary to exercise his religious intolerance whenever he could. he told stephanie's parents that she couldn't come over after school anymore.
after school the following day, we met where we normally do to walk home. this time, though, she was upset about something.. her parents told her about what happened, but i had no idea. she wouldn't tell me why, but she wanted me to come to her house instead of her coming to mine. i questioned over and over unto why.. until i finally got a "if we're going to make this work --". at that point i said i had to go. i turned around and without a look back i walked home. there are few things i whole-heartedly regret. that action is one of those things. ..i didn't realize how much she meant to me until days went by with her hanging out with someone else at snack and lunch.. and avoiding talking to me in class. my chances with someone as great as her, even with the once upon a time-esque meeting, were flushed down the s**tter. and why? because my father thought scientology was some sort of plague that i would catch from her.
imho, lumping scientologists together and saying they tick you off is the same as saying "christians tick me off" or "jews piss me off". it's just as wrong. orph, even your constant prejudgments of young people tick me off. not all scientologists are the same, and not all young people are the same.

there's a guy at my school who will actually tell people that they are going to go to hell when they die because of their beliefs
i have to laugh though because there is a gay athiest scientologist vegan goth at my school and they get into it all of the time
i just want to tell the first guy to shut the f**k up and leave the guy alone
if he were a true "christian" he wouldn't be telling people they are going to go to hell because in the bible it says not to

It always makes me sad to hear a story like that. I want to let everyone know that Bewbies is right. Not all scientologists are "like that." And not all Christians are like that either. We are supposed to love everyone no matter what. "Pray for those who hate/persecute you."
Unfortunately, people only see the negative side of any religion. Most religions give people moral guidelines that it is mandatory that they follow. Most people today don't want to have to take responsibility for thier actions and so they want to think that everything they are doing is okay, so they have to invalidate anything that says that what they are doing is wrong, including religions. All they have to do to feel better about themselves is to label Christians as "Hating Nazis" and Scientologists as "Doofs."
Well, there's ALWAYS a bunch of people who make ANY group of people look bad/stupid/hateful. People take this bad bunch and generalize the whole group so that they don't have to feel guilty. THAT is what ticks me off.
2 Tim 4: 2-4 (NIV) Preach the Word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage--with great patience and careful instruction. For the time will come when men will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear. They will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths.
Bewbies and everyone else: Please don't think that all Christians are like the ones they always show on TV. The ones who always seem so hateful. Anybody who is a TRUE Christian, is loving, and forgiving and does not shun or descriminate because another person's religion is different or newer than thier own.
Fatstrings: We've been through this before. The verse above says "Correct, Rebuke and Encourage." and sometimes correcting and rebuking cannot be done with sugar-coating. Now, you'll say "what happened to encouraging?" But you can only encourage people who are doing the right thing to begin with.

Nickelplate we've been through this before. I am not referring to rebuking, i am referring to "you're going to hell because you don't believe in God"
not only will this method not work on Athiests because they don't believe in hell, but it is wrong by the bible because it teaches you to show them they are wrong through your own actions
when you tell someone that you are giving them a reason not to change because you are being an asshole
I thought it was interesting that my english teacher just assigned us a paper on things that tick us off, so i am going to post it.
mind you, i had about 10 minutes to do this so i'm sure the grammar isn't that great but here it is
It makes me so angry when?
It makes me so angry when everyone listens to goth punk bands that all sound the same because they have no individual creativity. These bands really make me mad because, as I said before, they all sound the same and they all look the same; they all wear straight black clothes bought from Hot Topic and have their hair dyed black and all cut the same way. However, there is one thing that makes me even madder than these bands: the people that listen to them and think that they are quality music. These people generally seem to listen to these bands only because everyone else does, this shows that the people listening to them also lack individualism, these are also usually the same people who label themselves as ?non-conformists?.
Another thing that really ticks me off are the stupid illiterate hicks who drive oversized pickups to school because they think it makes them cool. These trucks are generally lifted 4-5 feet off the ground and have oversized wheels to add to this, they also are lucky to get even 10 mpg. These are also usually the same people that skip school to go hunting and are praised by their parents for it. These people think if you can get a C average you are a genius and usually drop out of high school during the 3rd quarter of their senior year, thinking nothing of it. Their idea of a good book has 10 pages and 5 words in it and anything bigger is only good for starting fires or toilet paper. They feel that if you are a guy and don?t like football you probably like men and if you don?t listen to country you are probably mentally ill. These people generally share music tastes, their favorite music seems to include country and anything played before football games or during weight training. These songs include pretty much any AD/DC, Guns and Roses, or Linkin Park. These people are the epitome of conformity to their society and really tick me off! I would also like to say that there is only one place in the world where you have the opportunity to attend a camo-themed wedding, that place being Willow Springs, Missouri.
That is a very short list of things that really tick me off, but I am running out of time so I will cease to type. You know what really ticks me off? Dead-lines!

HEY! lay off the big trucks, you little... no-hunter-not-liking-country-music.. guy...
dang.. that sounded so much better in my mind...

Oh yeah, I agree that in some cases, rebuking is not what is needed, but its the same with every other method. Each case has its own solution. Just like the computers you fix in class.
