My map Temple was reeaallly nice but an Action HL exclusive when it came out. I was thinking of porting it to HLDM since my brain doesn't want to deal with Source right now and it probably wouldn't be too much work. Would it be worth the bother? Anyone still play HLDM? Goodness knows it's better than HL2DM.

It's this map:

Well, there's roughly a 1/3 of the servers available for HL than there is for HL2DM, which isn't bad at all. It looks like a really nice map and I would definately put it on my HLDM server.....I like HLDM better than than HL2DM, so my response may be slanted, but I would say do it. I have never heard of Souce mapping and converting to HLDM....that's sounds cool. a TOOOON of sites (especially in Europe) still exist for HL....and it is still pretty big with a large fanbase, so I'd say go for it.

I don't play HLDM at all anymore, but as of 2:15 AM EST this is what the Half-Life server listing looks like:

Jinx, I hope that helps a bit. The map looks great by the way.

It's not a Source map, it's Half-Life. It was made for the final version of Action Half-Life.

My map Battleschool (started by Wintermute, finished by me) got a ton of downloads in HLDM format... I think partly because it spawns you with better weapons and a jumppack. I may go for a similar setup on Temple since it's a very large map.

Lemme get together a zip of the AHL version... I think you will be able to run it in HLDM to take a look at it. Just no weapon spawns etc.

Started a topic in the mapping forum; there's a download link there if a few of you could take a look at the map:

Now I gotta go reinstall old-school Hammer lol

I understand, but you said you don't want to make it for source since hl2dm is not great. I simply mentioned that hl1dm source is coming out sometime soon. That's all.

But I'm sure it'd get played loads in any case.

ahhh gotcha. Knowing HLDM Source is coming out makes me more interested in Source mapping. I could probably port any DM maps to Goldeneye Source and some other mods, too. I'm all about porting maps lol. Seriously, though, when you spend so much time on a map it's dumb not to do a little extra work to make it widely available/compatible.

I started a map for Fortress Forever, but it's not out yet and in some ways I'd rather do a basic small DM map first while I'm still learning the new stuff in the editor.

BTW, are there any HLDM map review sites that are still operational?

OH. and did Valve ever bother to add the env_fog entity to HLDM?
