I cant believe this happened. A power cut. Then soon after, I turn on my PC....
'Bzzztztztzt!!" I hear this crackle sound, and my moniter light flickers. Then I smell something burning.

One little powersurge distroyed my Power Supply, proccesor, gfx card, hardrive, and melted the mother board. My PC is technicaly gone. RAM and everything is burnt.

I just thought I should warn you guys that getting a surge protector only costs about $5, and this is the worse thing that could happen to me <img src=" SRC="images/smiles/sad.gif">
Gawd!

I only lost two power sources during thunder, but the power surges never damaged anything else. I guess I'm the lucky one. A friend of mine has fried two computers during the past two years and his little brother just fried his own... Powersurges are magical things. Perhaps we should take heed and invest that extra 5$ or 4.16?.

That is why I am going to invent a new type of circuit box that is a HUGE surge suppressor for the whole house! Also a more costly model that is a nice big UPS that you will be able to control what rooms have power from a small console the size of a thermostat! WHEEE!

I have had a surge protector as long as I have had my computer, so I've survived quite few power surges(Damn you, Grey Davis!!).

My sister, on the other hand, has no surge protection, and, as a result, her nice BenQ LCD monitor was fried. The funny thing is, before I got a chance to look into it, she repeatedly pressed the power button, until the little button behind it's glue that held it in cracked and seperated from the case.
I took it one problem at a time...

Also change the texture of the dock. Docks are rarely tile. -Facepunch

Like others before me have said, you need a surge protector.
