I only lost two power sources during thunder, but the power surges
never damaged anything else. I guess I'm the lucky one. A friend of
mine has fried two computers during the past two years and his little
brother just fried his own... Powersurges are magical things. Perhaps
we should take heed and invest that extra 5$ or 4.16?.

That is why I am going to invent a new type of circuit box that is a HUGE surge suppressor for the whole house! Also a more costly model that is a nice big UPS that you will be able to control what rooms have power from a small console the size of a thermostat! WHEEE!

I have had a surge protector as long as I have had my computer, so I've survived quite few power surges(Damn you, Grey Davis!!).
My sister, on the other hand, has no surge protection, and, as a
result, her nice BenQ LCD monitor was fried. The funny thing is,
before I got a chance to look into it, she repeatedly pressed the power
button, until the little button behind it's glue that held it in
cracked and seperated from the case.
I took it one problem at a time...
