I'm looking at purchasing a video and uadio editing program. I'll probably go with Blaze Media Pro but I was curious if there any other good programs I should try out first. What do you guys prefer?

It doesn't have to cost 5 billion dolars *cough*


Anyways, whenever I do some editing I use vobsub, which is open source. Its not too fancy, but it get the job done.

OR you could just make your own school and get it at educational prices!

i use blaze as well....good proggy for the money.... <img src=" SRC="images/smiles/icon_wink.gif"> but this is one of those, "you get what you pay for" kinda things....

Not to put to fine a point on it Spartan, perhaps you should clarify your goals.

My point is, there are some pretty nifty free programs out there for editing movies.. Virtual dub is one of them. But I assume, movies isn't your goal, in spite of you posting

There are some *taboo* programs if you have no compulsions to obtaining one.

I'd certainly look into the free ones. Truly free, not *taboo* free.

If you have a lot of time and are not afraid of some scripting, the combination Virtualdub and Avisynth works perfectly for me. The only difference is I'm writing 2 pages of code for an effect Premiere has built-in.

Well I can't code so that's out of tehe quastion. I'm not making the music either just making the video. I'll take the shots using gamecam then use another program to edit the shots and music so it matches up, maybe add some effects, text, narration, etc.

Well theres Vitual Dub, and of Course Windows Movie Maker. Both are free, but VD gives you a ton of video and audio compression methods, but you can't actually splice the film up the way you want. Meaning, you'll have to split up and all that good stuff in Windows Movie Maker, then import it into VD. Neither really have any audio abilities though. If you're looking for editing audio specifically, get Goldwave.

For audio editing, I'd suggest Audacity personally. Nice, free, open-source editor.

Yes, you are 99% right. I said the same thing.

You see, Snarkpit has a basic bylaw that it will not promote theft of any kind. I can link you to threads where Lep has admitted to *taboo* stuff himself but the basic reality is, HE CANNOT SUPPORT IT.

So we sugar coat it..

Exactly. Snarkpit in no way supports, tolerates or promotes the use of illegal software - I thought this had been made clear in the past few weeks, myself.

I don't think there is any way around it, ahem, but for the public forums - openly stating that things can be cracked, downloaded, or have been cracked or downloaded contravenes my policy of "Piracy exists - let's not discuss it in any explicit form here".

Suppose some international crime fighting organization went out and shut down every website that had mention on wares. If they saw *tabbo*, they couldn't do much about it. Then they see "Just crack the trial version", and they shut down the snarkpit. Do you want to be single handly responsible for that french, DO YOU?
