So, today, I looked down and noticed my keyboard was pretty god damn dirty. I took two hours to clean and reassemble it and, during this time, realized I hadn't ever cleaned THIS keyboard since I got it in December of 2004. It raised a question: How often do you clean out your keyboard?
If it isn't often I hope this topic reminds you to get in there and clean out all the hair, crumbs, and little crotch soldiers that may be taking up residence.

Not my polls. I raise the bar on polls. I push the poll limit. I once swam in a pool but I was too hardcore to confrom, so I called it a "poll", sir.

Good to "see" you back man. I've never cleaned a keyboard... except in the event of a catastrophe like spilled milk or grape juice.

Some people are like slinkys...
They aren?t really good for anything, but you can't help but laugh when one tumbles down the stairs.

I've had the same keyboard for 10 years and have never cleaned it. How do you go about cleaning a keyboard anyways?

The only time i have cleaned a keyboard was when i spilled soda on it. The only way to dry it out was to take the whole thing apart.

I tap mine upside down about once a month. There is a surprising capacity behind those little buttons.
Keyboards are so cheap now that if mine becomes embarrassingly dirty, I buy another.
Case closed. " SRC="images/smiles/icon_smile.gif">

As above. Keyboards are by the by for me - the PC, and the monitor are important, mouse to an extent also.

I use a Logitech Cordless Keyboard. The way I clean mine is:
1. Flip over, take out batteries (so it no longer operates)
2. Unscrew everything on the back, remove cover
3. Pop off every key and stick them in a bowl of hot water
4. Use a paper towels / seperate bowl of hot water to clean everything on the board
5. Go into the bathroom, fill the sink with hot water, pour all keys in. Then I fill it with soap, pull out each key individually and wipe it using a towel.
6. Reassemble.
I lost my damn F1 key today. I should probably look for it, but I don't use it much.

Like the majority of the people who posted, if you had included a "never" option that's what I would have voted.
I've been using the same laptop for almost four years now and the keyboards still fine.

Despite that I like/chose the smarty-ass pant choice, I don't really
clean my keyboard much
Gets quite dirty, and I think I can
even see soda stains on it

I put a cover over it when I'm not working, so it stays relatively clean. Also, it has black keys, so the filthy-ness is less visible

I couldn't resist klicking 3... but actually every few years. I heared that the keyboard is more bacteria infested than a toilet seat. So it might not be that much of a bad idea to clean it more regularly. :/

never, especially now with my new laptop
but seriously, if there is too little risk involved in an other option why not just look danger and the eye and post a never option![]()

Well, since all of you want a "Never" option so bad I am never going to include it. One or two people asking for it is fine, but since all of you think you "need" it so badly, I am going to deprive you of it. In every damn poll.
