Keep an eye on those images. XAT is a web designers best friend.
XAT also has a program to show web designers how their pages will load on 56k.
A thumbnail should never be that big. If it is, then what its linked to will most likely be oversized as well.
A web page should show a persons diligence to the finer details. If they are sloppy, it will reflect on them in other areas as well.

I was in INS mod once, knew the guy who started it, Argyll. They are a bit foolish now and then, and don't listen very often- I kept telling them I was too busy to map and that I would when the summer holidays came. 1 Day before the holidays they kicked me out for not doing any work... they kinda missed out on 4 months worth of my mapping, but it didn't bother me- I just got a job and earned some money instead!
As for the website, like the effects, unfortunately (and honestly) I hate the look. It looks like it was made in those 10 minute website programs on Mac computers. My flatmates website from last year looked the same as yours ![]()
