An occurance in a DM game just now prompted me to start this topic: I
was playing in the basement of DM_Overwatch and someone with the
crossbow pinned me to the wall by my ass.

Haha, I have a screen somewhere of a combine I killed on a staircase on HL2SP. I was standing on the bottom of the stairs and looking up at him with a crossbow. I hit him in the head and lifted him about 6 feet off his feet and pinned him by his head against the wallbehind him. i will look for the screen now.
EDIT: Ok maybe it wasn't 6 feet, but it was pretty funny at the time. Also, I had a stock video card on my comp, and had to play at a tiny resolution and all low. You can still tell what was going on.
View from the top of the staircase where he was standing when I hit him from the bottom
crappy flashlight, but you can see the arrow just above his head.. lol
Too bad I don't have a video of it when it happened. (happened on Canals)

Pinning people against the wall is the beauty of Painkiller, especially since there's so gosh-darned baddies. Walls get PRETTY messy, at least if you're cool and make the bodies stay. My brother showed me how to sling their corpses into the air with a shottie and then using the stakegun to stick 'em into the ceiling. W00t, so entertaining if you're a sadistic f**k.

heh, I once shot a guy in the lighthouse of dm_island17. He got stuck in the wall with his legs. Looked like some bizzare stunt from the right angle:

My son and I used to frag Island 17 almost every day I was home. One time he was clear across the map and I was in the light house tower retrieving the 357... I took one pot shot at him and scurried down the stairway. He knew where I was of course. Anyway, I could hear him across the room counting... "4....3....2....1....boink"
I heard the crossbow fire..
seconds later, I was pinned to the wall inside the tower. The f**king little s**t fired clear across the map and through one of the windows and nailed my ass..
The shot was a million to one hit and there I was hanging butt up against the inner wall. ![]()

I've done something like that too on island17. When I
can't find anyone to shoot at, I have the habit of grabbing nearby
props and tossing them in random directions. Being bored, I once
grabbed a radiator that was lying on the ground and tossed it over the
nearby cliff and into the blue...accidentally killing someone who was
on the other side of the cliff, about half a map away.
I think the victim thought the radiator came from God himself.

Actually he wasn't. He didn't seem to know what to think.

I suppose my funniest/most interesting death occurred while plaing Dystopia. I was running as a Medium, then suddenly BLAM, im bolted o the wall side-on. hat's not what really amused me, though... It was the fact that after that my corpse started... twitching. A lot, but not enough to look unntural. Coupled with the spark effect from the bolt, it looked like I was electrocuted. Me and the shooter both had a good laugh about it..then I blew his brains out.

Odd deaths:
- Spawning right in front of a guy with an SSG in Doom Deathmatch.
- Being vaporized for no apparent reason by some random player shooting a guass gun who was not in my remote vicinity.
- Being trampled by phys cars in hl2dm that are moving less than 1 mph.

Not a big HLDM player then I guess Ballblue? The Gauss can shoot through walls...in fact that's the most effective way to kill people in the entire game

Anybody played HL1DM:S yet by the way? I heard that when you pre-purchase HL2:Episode 1 you can download it immediately, but I haven't tried yet. I preloaded it and am intending on buying it however, so might give it a shot later this evening.

Ohhh... interesting! I'm curious if it will be a dodgy port like HL:S or a complete remake a la CS:S and DOD:S.
