It would depend on what the "Wii" stood for IMO.
It might be a perfectly appropriate acronym that harmonizes with "Nintendo"
*shrugs*
Its just a console, so its no great loss. Could be Nintendopedo for all I care. " SRC="images/smiles/heee.gif">

When I first heard about the 'Google' search engine, I thought it sounded like a joke.
The shock value of this name, will 1. garner alot of attention 2. not hurt Nintendo sales 3. Wear off very quickly.
And... no one will ever forget such a simple and striking name.
Even though it sounds odd, I think i see their angle and it will probably work out just fine.

"Google" has a lot of meaning behind it... I wonder if "Wii" does, or whether it was just designed by the marketing goons to sound all modern and community and "Web 2.0" like, or something. The explanation they gave sadly points to the latter, but hopefully will have more reason behind it evenutally.
And besides, it sounds like a cheap ripoff of Intel's Viiv...
PS: I'm posting again! Yay!

But, then again, usually Nintendo has terrible development names. Ultra 64, Dolphine ... so on and so forth.
Apparently, also, Sega-Hudson Soft authorized that Nintendo can include the catalogs of Sega Genesis and TurboGrafix 16 to be included for download on the Revol ... wii system.

I agree on that. Since a decade Nintendo is making the most innovative game hardware and I love their logos (N64, GC, DS...). Wii looks and sounds very likable... maybe a bit too short. Just think of a kid saying "Wanna play a round on the Wii?".

I think they should just call it "nintendo." Anything else they put after it will just sound too "something"
in the case of "wii" replace the word "something" with "lame"

Somehow, the sarcasm, which normally drips liberally, is diminished with the nasty browser crap included.
I think I like the normal sarcasm better Cass.
Ditch the crappy browser, at least until Lep alters Snarkpit to accommodates its shortfalls.

"Lol, they are having this exact thread at TWHL."
Toast King? Are you still hanging around there? Get a life, you were banned and there is very little you can do about that, freak.

He hasn't done anything here yet, and I will thank you not to drag your history with him to Snarkpit.
Are we clear?

The new name might be crap, but as people have said, at least it's got everybody talking about it. Just as my flatmate told me today - everybody's got Wii on their lips
