The other thing I didn't know is that the controller's tilt sensing is ripped off from Nintendo, so to speak. Not from the Wii-Mote, but the Nun-Chuck. So, in good news, the nun-chuck analog add on, has tilt sensativity in addition to the fully 3d movement of the Wii remote controller.
There's some really awesome descriptions of things that can be done. A ten minute demo game of Metroid Prime 3 in description sounds awesome. The grapple is executed through the nun-chuck by thrusting forward (or down, not sure) and then hold down on the analog stick to pull yourself up. That = awesome.
Although, I will admit, MGS4 looks fantastic. But not quite worth the $600 + $60 price tag.
I'm sure I'll have a PS3 eventually ... when GameStop is selling them for $50 or something

I'm loving Will Rights next incarnation of sims, "Spore". For some reason, that game is reminding me a little of Black and White. But the idea tht you play the game offline and connect to recieve other players worlds to essentually kick up the games diversity is probably what makes me want the game sooo badly. I would be surprised if future simulation games try to do the same thing.
MGS4 is probably the one game, so far, that is featuring the best cinematic, story driven cutscenes. I mean that trailor looked great. The idea that Snake, suffering from his disease, would comence his final mission, the ultimate end. It kind reminded me of the end of MGS3 when you found out The Boss was still on your side, but to cover up US involvement, she had to forcibly bring herself to Death by the hands of her greatest deciple. Anyway, Hideo nust have a long interest in western style spy movies, just a thought.
That new game from the makers of Farcry looks interesting too.
Anyway, can't wait till tomarrows show. (Ooohhh, how I wish I could be there in person. Maybe someday when my skills are hardened and I'm actually part of the industry.)

Also announced a Resident Evil and New Duck Hunt for Wii and probably the most iimpressive launch catalog for a console I've seen in my entire life.
If you haven't seen the Red Steel gameplay footage either, I suggest you check it out, it's pretty cool looking (for a console FPS) ... check IGN or something for videos.

I'm sure it's all in game and everything, I just feel it might have been spruced up a little with some hard-scripted stuff that won't happen during gameplay.
EDIT: Also meant to mention that that gun thing looks like crap, as does their more traditional controller. Seriously, it's like they've decided to revamp their old SNES stuff. Ergonomics out the window

This may be a dumb question so don't laugh. I ask in all seriousness.
Do they make consoles with peripherals like a mouse and keyboard?
My main complaint about consoles is they game pads. I have nightmares about Nintendo thumb. Believe it or not, I did play consoles once. The pain was excruciating.
I might consider them again if I could navigate with a keyboard and mouse interface.

Have you tried some of the newer control pads, such as the new Xbox 360 pad? They have come a long way in the past 10 years...
...even if that picture of the new Nintendo one suggests otherwise

Thankfully, my sons have more/less grown up and moved out. In any case, I prolly won't have to buy any more consoles.
If I ever buy another, it will be for my own use.
The last ones I bought was this past Xmas. I bought 2 game cubes and 2 X-boxes.
I wasn't very impressed with either controllers.

TeeHee.... Walking through E3 today, I brushed shoulders with Gabe Newell... it was pretty surreal.
Things look pretty awesome. Lots of good looking games (but less booth-babes 'cry'). Oh, and first thing I saw walking in wasTony Hawk skating a halfpipe - f'in rad.
I'll give a full report of my impressions sometime soon - once I recover from this gamma-ray induced migrane.

Also, the sword play in Red Steel, as I understand it, is not real time the same way gun play is. It's like, do a specific motion to pull off a special move type deal. At least, that's how it was described. Also, I doubt that the guy was actually playing Red Steel at all. Best bet is that the screen is simulated with stock gameplay footage or something like that. And, I'm not sure what you mean by too smooth ... I know the game, like godfather, allows you to pinpoint certain bodie parts. If you've played GF, by the way, you'll see it's rather smooth ... at least in that aspect, don't mention the clunky controls regarding everything else. In any case we'll find out this year. (I also hear there is some physics processing going on. In the SMG gameplay it seems like there's some fabric physics and such ... so it isn't like it's impossible or anything, but we'll see)
I wouldn't really trust renders, to be honest. Most of them are mock ups done by fans anyway. And, seriously ... I'm sure Nintendo will release stuff in the same style that looks good. They always have.
Orph, the controllers are far more comfortable than they were with something like ... the NES. Even the SNES controller is leaps and bounds in comfort. I rarely have sore hands or thumbs from playing games for many hours. Anyway using a keyboard and mouse does more damage to your wrist, so.
But, yeah, you can usually buy keyboard and mice for a console. The PS2, for example, has USB ports and supports normal keyboard and mice (you need an HDD though)
The Xbox can surely be easily modified if there isn't a connector already.
It's just, if you're talking about the Wii ... really, for a lot of the games a keyboard and mouse would be less effective, if they deliver what they're showing, that is.
Also, just to note, Gears of War looks pretty awesome ... but it just looks like it should be on PC. The look controls look awkward and the entire thing looks like it was made for a kb-m layout ... but they're using a controller instead or something. Still a cool looking game

I understand price drops, but there's multi-platform games and usually when a particular series is tied to a company you pretty much already know what to expect ...
Sega is an oddity, to be honest, since their stragity to sell consoles was few and far between (unless you're talking about Japan, which you'd be surprised to know the Saturn was very succesful)
and are you implying that the Saturn ... or Dreamcast doesn't have a heafty library of games that are good? I mean, half the Dreamcast games published became the core games of PS2, XBX, and GCN. (Almost the entire XBOX library of good games is built off of the Dreamcast)
Saturn being an expensive system ... or having a short lifespan in the US doesn't make Panzer Dragoon Azel, Dragon Force 2, or Burning Rangers any less awesome.
I know you have awesome games for Saturn ... and by the way, if you're pissed about being ripped off, sell some of those games, they're worth hundreds of dollars. You'll get twice the money back, at least.

By saying Red Steel looked too smooth, I just meant that the characters are extraordinarily realistic in their movements. Games these days often don't even bother with flinch animations when a person gets shot, instead just "ragdolling" the corpse when they are killed, but this seems to have animations crawling out of every orafice
