Agreed. However, ask them... Assuming you are on a level of intimacy to where a question of that nature wouldn't get you hit.

Again, this comment isn't meant in a crude sense. Women think differently than men, and how I phrased it is my interpretation of how it was told to me.

When asked what separates women from men, a woman will always use procreation (baby carrying) as the defining difference and that alone makes them superior and why they are exempted from the rules governing equality.... Then they will go into the tangent of... What I said.

one big factor is the male/female relation within the armed service. aside from the fact that many guys' IQs are cut in half when a woman is nearby, there'd be many sexual issues throughout the ranks. there's already a huge deal whenever two guys are caught hiding the sausage, imagine if there were more women. eeesh

my stance on the issue is that women do have a place in the armed services, but at their own will. someones got to hold down the fort at home.

We live in a world where the gender roles are so blurred. If a guy can marry another guy, and a woman can make more money than her husband, then I think that women should be drafted too.

I think that it will be like the prison system. One system for women and another for men. completely separate units, platoons, systems and divisions.

im pinned down in a field, half my leg shredded from a mine, and my ass hanging out in the breeze <-------see avatar***.....i have about 50 yards to get to the treeline and safety.....now, the incoming fire notwithstanding, whos gonna get me to safety on the drag....a 160 lb gal, that the rest of the unit is going to instinctively coddle, or 220 lb ex football jock Otto Mattiche who can sprint to the finish with two of me on his back....?

to me, the combat differences are so obvious its painfull....but all should have to serve in some capacity for at least a 2 year stint....IMHO....yes on registering, but all the while with tact, decorum, and abilities in mind...

^^My thoughts exactly.

On a similar train of thought, local law enforcement/safety places have to have a certain amount of women. Like Fire Stations have to have at least 30% women or something similar.

To me, it's foolish. I want the person who is best capable to rescue my ass from a burning building. I'll feel no different if it's a man or a woman.

Ha, I just registered. You can just go to the website and fill out the forms. I don't think it's such a big deal though, since I doubt there will be a draft in the near future - it's political suicide. Sure, there've been some proposals, but they always get shot down.

As for why women aren't allowed to register, I think the reason is obvious - no one cares to change it.

Despite being a "civilized" country, Sweden does have conscription. Personally, I think its inhuman to even have an army, and its beyond evilness to force people to do training which teaches them to kill other people.
Women aren't included in this conscription, but they are allowed to do national service if they prove themselves to be mentally and physically fit enough.

In Sweden everyone gets an personal ID when they are born, because of this, the Government keeps track on everyone and sends them demands to do "national service" when you get 18. Its practically impossible to avoid the initial tests to see if you're fit to do service. If you refuse, the police will come and get you.

Luckily the Swedish army is being cut down all the time, so there are actually many young men who are not allowed to do conscription even if they want to. The good thing is that almost everyone who doesn't want to be in the army doesn't have to.
I've heard that there are many women who wants to do national service, why is beyond me.

But this is my personal view, and I'm an extreme pacifist who train Karate in order to protect myself and the attacker in cause of an assault rather than just protecting myself.
